Default Heated grips and internally wired bars

What's the deal with the HD heated grips and internally wired bars not being compatible in all the catalogs? All the grip descriptions say "not for internally wired bars"...

WO 578s are compatible. What bars are you looking at?

it's not the bars, it's the grips to say they're not compatible with internally wired bars.

Factory heated grips work with the WO 577 and WO 578. A lot of the catalogs are incorrect.

it's the Harley catalog that says the Harley grips are incompatible with internally wired bars. that's my question, not about bars but about the grips specifically. What makes them ( the grips) different, I think you and I are talking about two different things.

The Harley Grips are compatible with some bars that allow internal wiring. I have the Wild Ones 12 1/2" Apes on my 15 Limited CVO with internally wired Harley heated grips. Works just fine.

Its a safety and a cover your a** description. The wires get hot inside the bars and they don't want to be on the hook for a malfunction. Additionally the longer the wire, the less heat that will arrive at the grip.

I put HD slipstream heated grips on when I did my apes and they are not wired to be wired inside. None of the P&A grips are internally wired so they will slide directly in. In order to get the chrome and black grips that are setup for a nice clean internal wire job you have to buy the CVO grips. I believe they're about $400
