Default Another Warranty Question

Will having a INDY do my service work void my extended warranty? I am ready for my 1000 mile service and these dealers are wanting $375 to $450 to do it on my LTD.

I am going to get a manual and do it myself in the future but for now having it done is a better choice for me.

Thinking if he's certified HD will allow them, but I'd make certain before allowing a Indy to do the work,I do know Indy shops can do the work just not sure of the protocol, I'm sure someone will chime it.

If you're talking maintenance... you can do it, they can do it, doesn't have to be Harley.

The key is documentation, keep your receipts including what he (or you) did and what supplies were used. If everything is well documented makes it difficult for the dealer to argue.

There is nothing in the warranty that says the work "has to be" performed by an HD dealer.
They will say something like "recommended".
But all manufacturers will say that. Not just an HD thing.

The only requirement, is that all factory recommended service be performed.
You can do it yourself, or pay someone of your choice to perform it.
It just has to be done.

As mentioned, document your work.
You can download service check lists, so just follow those and keep your records in order.

If you do your own work and mess something up that they can blame you for damage warranty void, or a fight for coverage. Magnuson Moss warranty act is your friend, and does help cover your butt somewhat. I have always done my own work since my second bike. I haven't had any problems with anything outside of recalls while under warranty on any of my bikes. My compensator went out on my last by after my warranty was up, but that should have been a recall issue.
