That's because the recall on the BMW was issued in June with a do not ride order. They said it would be at least September before replacement parts were available. So owners were going to be without there bikes all summer. They also had only sold 800 of the affected bikes as of June. That's alot different then Harleys situation. The moco is getting parts out within a week and as of June they had already sold over 66,000 of the Rushmore's.

The fans only run when certain temps are reached and only during slow or stopped operation. Coolant temp must reach 165 for the thermostat to open, pumping coolant through the radiators. Most of the time you are riding your fans are off. Your exhaust valve is still being cooled. It's a great system IMO.
