Default Help, which oil port to screw in a temp gauge?

Anyone know, maybe better said has anyone installed a standard dial type oil temp gauge?
If so, which port did you use? There is an inlet and outlet on the oil filter adapter that goes to the oil cooler. If I choose that, of course I know I want the temp before it goes into the oil cooler.
But I think there is also a port on the bottom of the oil pan that some use.

It would be great if someone who really knows or someone who has done this could chime in their thoughts.

I am thinking, after just returning an oil dipstick temp gauge, of installing a standard QUALITY made automotive dial oil temp gauge. I will just need to decide which port to use and screw in the sensor.

Even though I have a 14 Road King, the engines are the same and will have the same ports/plugs.

Nobody has ever had an oil temp problem until they install an oil temp gauge.

Just sayin'
