Default NaviExtra Map Update NA MY2017

Well...I bit it and purchased the MY2014 mapset from NaviExtras. It went very well without a hitch, here's a few bullet points...

1.) It took forever! Overall the entire process took over 7 hours...don't get in a rush or think you'll get in a ride that day...LOL It took 6 hours just to download the data and about an hour to load it to BOOM! from the thumbdrive. Not sure how big the DL was...when I checked the thumb properties it said 3G but after the DL it said just 300MB. I have a decent connection at 20 down and 2 up (20/2). Guess things move slow in Romania...

2.) It's pretty straight forward but I would not recommend anyone attempt who is light on Windows operating skills or if you are faint of heart ($149.95 is at stake).

3.) It looks the same and acts the same. Some time in the saddle will tell if it was worth the time, effort and money.

4.) All setting were retained and did not require a rebuild of your BOOM! system.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the Naviextras toolbox to recognize the USB? I have tried everything I can think of and it won't recognize the USB plugged into the computer. I tried different USBs, ports and rebooted the computer with no luck. The computer shows the USB connected...thinking maybe its a bug with Naviextra's Toolbox?

Did you put your bike (Boom 6.5) info on the flash drive first?
Then when you open the Naviextras toolbox it will find the info and register your radio.
Then after your 6.5 is registered you can buy the map update.

Turn your bike on accessory and wait till it fully boots up. Then insert a blank flash drive.
1. Then press the "Home" toggle on left switch pack
2. Using the right switch pack navigation toggle (the one with the arrow) scroll to "Setup" and press enter
3. Scroll to "System Information " and select it
4. Go down to "Navigation" (you will need to scroll down one spot) and select it
5. Scroll down to "Export For Update" and select it
6. Select your flash drive
7. "Exporting data Please wait..." will appear
8. When finished click "OK"
9. Remove flash drive, put in computer and open Naviextras Tool Box and go from there

I like having the GPS on the bike, but I spend a lot more time in the car for business. I have a Samsung Note 5 and have really grown to love the app "Android Auto" for navigating. It is SO simple to use and SO accurate. I put a Ram X mount on the handle bars and blue tooth it and listen through the speakers.

On a recent HOG Chapter ride I used mine and the head road captain used the Boom and he made three wrong turns.

I think I will save the $150.00.

Okay, thanks. I will try it today and see how it goes.

Everything worked fine after I followed the directions above, thanks again! It probably took about 30 mins to down load the maps from Navi and then another hour or more to install it on the bike. Excited to see how it looks as soon as the Midwest monsoon rains let up.
