Just so I understand... you have a tune problem.... and a touring bike.... and you wont expend a tank of gas to get it fixed once and for all???? OK

Mine had a ping hot weather two up riding. Mostly on take offs . I went the dealer download route and problem solved. It actually runs pretty good now. With the 110 noted lifter problems I'm trying to keep the warranty in tact.

I guess you don't understand... more like an overnight trip and a day off work than a simple tank of gas. You go 400 miles on a tank of gas?

I meant one way on the tank of gas and yes I don't understand. You have a problem that plagues you. You are offered a solution to fix it and you are worried about riding 200 miles one way on a touring bike. 3-4 hour ride. Get up leave at 4 arrive at 8... leave when done and ride home. Or ask around on the forums on how to fix it yourself and continue to have the issue that can potentially trash a valve or piston.

I have a 2014 Limited (obviously a wet-head), and it has never pinged and the bike is fairly high mileage. Even in the high Rockies, where some gas had an octane level no higher than 89 it didn't ping.

On the other hand, I had a 2013 RGU that pinged all the time soon as ambient air temp was above 80F. Drove me mad. I didn't keep it long enough to mess with a stage one.

In the bold... Are you kidding?
1. Nothing good happens at 4:00 am
2. Around here, riding a bike at that time is like playing Russian Roulette (with Whitetail Deer)
3. There is no guarantee the proposed "solution" you are referring to will fix my problem.

I haven't even tried the octane boost. So I think I'll try it and/or give the dealer the opportunity to fix it before going to the effort above...

FWIW it doesn't "plague" me. It happens occasionally on long rides in hot weather. The highest temp in the 15-day is 77 degrees.

I simply asked if anyone else is having this same issue.

They're open 9-2 on Saturday. It's SUMMER. Get going at 7:30, arrive at 10:30. Call ahead and get an appointment.

No brainer, man. Life doesn't have any guarantees, except taxes and death. Get'er done.

I had the same exact symptoms the OP under the same riding conditions on the same year and model.
I got a FP3 and a set of Vance and Hines monster rounds then flashed with the appropriate map and that pinging went away.
I'm pretty sure a FP3 or a tuner of any kind will correct his problem.
