Clunkiest clutch action ever.......
I posted this in the "Tranny/Clutch" section by accident so I posted it here too. Mods....... spank me as needed, lol.......
New-ish to me 22 SGS........
Is this "Less than smooth" clutch action on this new style clutch cable set-up due to the cable connector/adjuster in the middle of the two piece cable the culprit here? Ridden a lot of bikes with cable, and hydraulic, clutches and I know that they're all a little different and it takes a minute to get use to it, just like cars and trucks, but after 13,000 miles, this thing still sucks *** off the line, especially in the hills and when it's cold. That being said, is the upgraded aftermarket metal adjuster the answer? Or is there a one piece cable replacement for this that does away with the whole contraption? Is the purpose for the adjuster just to more easily(?) adjust where your friction zone hits as you let out the clutch lever?
Honestly.......... I prefer the hydraulic on my 14 SGS and others that I've owned over this..........

Is the clutch itself behind the derby cover stock?
I rode a CVO Dyna few years back that had what owner described as a lock up clutch.
Smooth as it got was rev it up to a non stall speed and let the clutch grab.
Not sure why anyone would want something like that for a street bike. Bike was new from Harley and high dollar.
Guess it could have been a dealer modification.

The cable routing is from the factory, no mods or changes and stock bars. However, because the bike was new-ish to me, I had the dealer do the 15k service and they DID lube the cable(s) and that did seem to help a bit. I may try lubing it myself as well and see what happens. I just wish it was one solid cable though.......

FBI upper clutch cable is a good upgrade - it eliminates that plastic POS adjuster and moves lever free play adjuster to the perch.
