Question Heated grips wiring problem

I replaced the bars on my 14 Limited (Yaffe 10"ers) and at the same time put new Slip Stream heated grips on to replace the plain stock grips.

The stock grips have a black and black/white wire to connect the left and right grips together. They also have a red and a black wire to power and ground the set up. The Slip Stream grips also have the black and black/white to connect each side (although you have to modify the connector if you reuse the old right side wires - two male connectors won't hook together) but have a red, a black and an orange/white wire. The directions are written as if they are going on a bike that never had heated grips.

I connected the red and the black to the existing plug in the fairing (no heat doing it that way) but what the heck do I do with the orange/white wire? Since it is listed for accessory power, I'm thinking it could actually be spliced to the red and I'll have heated grips again.

Whatcha think? Am I missing something? Or, trying to make it too simple?

TIA,

Service manual shows one of the bk/w wires as accessory power and the other bk/w as ground. One bk/w wire connects to white wire and one to black wire on right hand grip and both bk/w wires connect to left hand grip.If You find a black wire and a black/white wire ,then the manual is wrong and You would hook the orange white to black /white.If manual is right,I would hook orange white to bk/w and see if it works.Worst that can happen is it blows a fuse and then You hook to opposite bk/w wire.
Hope this helps.

Quote from another thread (2014 Limited Slipstream heated grip installed)
Nickblink--"The new grip comes with 3 wires black, red and orange. I connected black to black, red and orange together connected to existing red."

Please post your results as Im sorta in the same boat. I installed +2 handle bars that have the holes to wire internally and want to change my grips.

I spliced the orange/white to the red and I have heated grips. Sorry about not posting the results sooner.
