Hey guys as anyone had problems with the intercom seeming like has a short?
I have a half helmet with J&m headset and have use the cb a lot with no issues and also no issues with the phone but I just bought 2 J&m 629 elite headsets and use mine solo yesterday for phone, again no issues but today with my wife and I trying to use the intercom it cuts in and out and on the intercom screen there is a icon that lights up when in use, it lights up up and cuts out like if the ptt button is pushed but is not from either one of us and then I disconnected one at a time but still does it I then left left mine hard wired turn the intercom off and use the phone with no problem!!!

Is this sound like a short? if so why am I able to use the phone? Is it a bad headset? again I can use the phone with it.

Any suggestions?

Oh and when we press the ptt the stereo turns down but can still hear it and with the phone or cb the stereo mutes when the ptt is pushed!!!

Did you tinker with the vox setting, if mine is to low the engine noise will activate the mic and do like you describe

 

Sounds like you need to adjust the VOX so it will be more sensitive. We had some similar issues as well. Finally found VOX needed to be turned almost all the way up, then the 'noise' in the ear piece could be adjusted via the volume for the headset.

 

The passenger PPT button is only for the passenger while they are talking on the CB

 

it takes a little time to get the senstivity adujested will work well at slower speeds but at hwy speed bood luck

 

This not true deltaPap.. It works for the Intercom as well... My Intercom locks up quite a bit... When it locks up neither the front nor back button will activate it. While it it is locked up, I can make it work with the VOX.... The problem with that is my radio activates the VOX and get real irritating... The Fix is to turn the bike off for about two or three minutes to get a reset of the Radio... If you just flip it on and off nothing changes... Somehow the radio holds a charge for a few minutes after you turn it off... It's hard to take it into the dealer cause I can not get the problem to manifest on cue... and when you turn the bike off it resets... The solution would be to go to the dealer when it happens and show them what's up... It seems to only do this when the wife and I are on a road trip with no time to go visit a dealer... I does happen at least once a month though... On occasion the whole radio freezes up and the fix is the same... Pull over take five and reboot...

 

Is anybody else haveing trouble with their intercom locking up?

 

Like the rest, I think you have your VOX set - so if it is low and you talk it does not completely activate - so, it will cut in and out.

I prefer to use the PTT switch with the intercom.

 

Those who use the PTT button for the intercom: Is your VOX set so that your voice NEVER activates the intercom? What happens if you have your CB on and the Intercom? Are you transmitting CB with every Intercom conversation?
