Odometer Error?
Just did a 2000 mile 48 hour trip from Jackson Hole, WY to Peachtree City, GA (Southwest of Atlanta) trying to earn a Saddlesore 2000 certificate.
The odometer on my 14 Ultra Limited indicates I rode 2089 miles. Google maps has me right at 2015 miles. I believe Google Maps is fairly accurate.
That's nearly 37 miles off per 1k miles.
Anyone else notice this discrepancy? Is there a fix?

The 14 is farther off than any of the other bikes I've had. The speedometer is about 8% optimistic when compared to the standalone GPS. At an indicated 80, the GPS says I'm really doing about 74.

Mine's 5.6% high, checked over a 10k run.
BTW, Google maps isn't the best resource for calculating shortest route which is what the IBA is checking for certifications, and Harley's Ride Planner is no better. Basecamp, Mapsource, or Microsoft Streets & Trips (just discontinued) allow for that routing method.

Mine was off by +4 miles for every hundred miles traveled when compared to the mile markers in several states. My 02 was within a few tenths of a mile over a hundred mile stretch. My 09 was +2.5 miles over a hundred mile stretch. It seems that the degree of error just keeps increasing over the years. So much for technology.
