After reading these posts, I opted for the 19.5 Clearview shield with recurve and vent. MUCH better, thanks for the input. 2020 Heritage (now with spare factory shield).

Did Clearview suggest the size or did you just go with the 19.5 because of your height?
BTW how tall are you?
Thanks

I sat on the bike and had the wife help measure with a length of twine, a yardstick, and a level. Goal was to put the tip of my nose at the top of the shield. The 19.5" was just a bit less than the length we measured, but I was certain that I didn't want to go taller. Definitely want to look over the shield and not through it. I'm just shy of 5'11" and see over the 19.5 perfectly. I had a MadStad on a previous bike and that was the method they used. Was taking a chance, and it worked out great. Clearview ships the shield with plastic film on both sides, and says to try it before peeling it off. On the 2020 Heritage Classic, there is a lot of bracing on both sides of the shield. Would have been a real pain to mount, unmount and remove plastic, then remount. I just peeled if off and figured I'd eat it if it wasn't right.

Thanks for the info. I’m 5’9-5’10”
I will definitely use your measuring technique though. I may have to just ignore the vent but if it gets rid of the buffeting I will live with it.
Thanks again

I would recommend reading Clearview's webpage on this...

https://www.clearviewshields.com/abo...shield-height/

I might add to their instruction by using a wheel chock. You can use to wheel chock to stabilize the bike while sitting with you feet on the pegs. Once you got you feet on the pegs get into your normal riding position. Relax as you naturally tend to do after a while in the saddle (posture tends to become - shall we say - more lazy/poor). Then see if you can see the object placed 50' away will looking over the shield. I find that posture changes a fair amount as time passes in the saddle. I might recommend that you test for this worst scenario when sizing a shield.

I would also read CV's other webpages... to include this one...

Hey Bubur - I'm thinking of taking your lead and doing the same. Before I start cutting into my windshield, has installing the vent helped with the buffeting?

What length bolt did you use? (I'm waiting on the windshield to be delivered - but wanted to get these parts in the meantime). Was the 1" sufficient? Or was it too short?

I think it was 3/4", with the acorn nut. If you're not using an acorn nut you might be able to get away with 1", but with the acorn nut it's really really tight to the fork.
