Default Paint issue

So I bought my 2019 Heritage last year in the Rawhide / Black and while I love the bike I can't help but feel the paint is inferior. I've noticed that it easily scratches and chips compared to my other bikes. This is my 5th Harley Davidson and the paint just seems "off" compared to my others. Has anyone else found this ?

Nope. There is a possibility that you have a real problem. Any photos? If the problem is real, a warranty claim may be in order. Take it back to the dealer where you bought it.

I know what you mean. My 2020 Sport Glide in performance orange, even the tank mount in the front is barely painted. You can see bare metal. These strait colors that HD is using now are thin in comparison to the metal flake paint of just a couple years ago. My '16 Heritage in white and teal, you could see the depth of the paint. And it almost glowed with gloss. This performance orange had swirls in it the day I brought it home.

Yeah, I'm disappointed too. My LR shows lights 'buff marks' that my older bikes never would have shown.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was due to our federal EPA laws. The low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint formulations may not be as good.

This one time all I did was think about cleaning my bike and a swirl appeared.

My rawhide and black one is holding up okay, but I've only had it a couple of months. Due to circumstances beyond my control I've been parking it outside with a cover that the wind likes to flap. I've got a light scuff mark on the tank that maybe got there from the cover, haven't tried to buff it due to other pressing matters. As I recall, my brand new '91 Softail had a couple of similar minor scuffs that it picked up, but it remains quite presentable to this day, owned by one of my sons and running great with 95k miles and 29 seasons. I think we see the flaws on our own bikes far more than other folks see.
