Need opinions. Debating if I should trade my 2021 low rider s in for a 2021 roadglide specia. Love my for the handling but wifey is more and more coming along for the ride. Is it worth the extra money? Hows the handling on the glide? Will i miss the S?
They are obviously 2 completely different bikes for different purposes. Worth the money - yes. Will you miss your S - yes. The RG handles good for a big heavy bike. If you want her coming along, make the deal. If not .........
I can't handle a permanently fixed fairing the size of a Glide....I like to see the front of the bike, not a wall of plastic. I'd recommend checking out a Road King. Same touring platform, looks 100% like a motorcycle from the riders seat versus the Starship Enterprise, and the shield pops off to get back to basics when you want it.
The frame mounted faring is the way to go. Ignore the myths go ride one. One thing you will need is a seat for two up. Like a lot of HD stuff the factory seat is made for looks not function. For two up the RG clearly wins.
But watch out once you ride one you are likely to buy one. Not all will agree but have wife ride with you is great. 46 years riding with my wife.
I had a 2017 RG and a 2018 RG before trading for a 2018 Heritage 114. The RG is the best MC Harley makes, hands down. I just couldn't handle the weight. I hated trading, but glad I did. The Heritage is more flickable, easier at low speeds. I still go into dealership and sit on an RG special occassionally, but have to pinch myself and remind me it is too big for me. i am 6'0. 200lbs, but 75yrs old. If I were you I would take several test rides at dealers, get a feel for the bike. on interstate, 100mph feels like 50/ oh, so sweet.
Get her into an MSF Course, and onto a Honda shadow(and then onto her own M8 harley later on). If she's already riding on the back of the bike she's already taking the risks of riding. Push her to take the next step to riding next to you instead of on the seat behind you. That way you keep your LRS, and you'll have a riding buddy for life.

The 2018+ Softail bikes are the most stable bikes at low speeds (parking lots and traffic) that Harley has ever made. The Softail frame plus the mid-mount foot controls make it both agile and stable. Any of the Touring bikes will be heavier making them less agile and more demanding to control in urban riding conditions. You will definitely miss your LR-S. But Touring bikes are very comfortable and steady on road trips--particularly long ones.
I suggest you objectively evaluate how you use your bike most of the time and how much time you will spend riding with a passenger. Mustang makes a variety of two-up and one-plus-one (two piece) seats that improve passenger comfort, particularly when paired with passenger foot boards and a passenger backrest. It will be a whole lot cheaper to invest in making your LR-S more comfortable for a passenger than immediately trading bikes. If you ultimately decide a Touring bike is what you and your wife need. Try different models of Touring bikes.
