Default Belt Deflection

Another Low Rider ST question , this time regarding Belt Deflection. Ive got about 4,000 Miles on the bike.

Am I reading the manual correctly that it wants 1/2 to 9/16 deflection? The whole deflection window isn't even 1", so with the belt riding in the middle of the deflection window it wants the belt to travel all the way to the top+ of the window? That seems very loose considering I'm at about 6mm now (it wants 12.7 - 14.2 mm!)

I am using the 10 lb spring loaded tool. And I am using a Caliper to measure the deflection from rest to max deflection. Am I missing something?

EDIT : I just checked my caliper its reading radius not diameter , I have no idea why and not sure what's going on with my instrument. I used the measurements on the body of the spring tool instead. Good to go now. Good lesson not to trust a new set of calipers......

Simple test. Twist it at the center point. Can you get to 45 degrees? It's good. More than, it's too loose, less than, it's too tight. Been working that way for 25+ years.

Cold? Or after bike is warmed up? I think a lot of the belts on these new bikes come to tight, I know the belt on my 2020's was.
