Question Do I need Muffler Gaskets?

I have a set of Krhome Werks Shredder slip-ons and a V&H FP4 fuel pack coming in tomorrow for my '22 Heritage 114.

Do I need replacement muffler gaskets?

No you can reuse them. I have with no problems. Use the proper torque, etc.

Are there actually gaskets between the headpipes and the slip on mufflers on softails? That wasn't the case on any of my M8 powered touring bikes.

If not, then no you don't need to purchase any gaskets. If you remove the headpipes from the cylinder head, yes, you should always replace those gaskets.

Yea I misspoke when referring to them as gaskets. They are clamps that attach the slip on to the head pipe. OP you can reuse the clamps if that was what you were referring to.

It depends on the Slip-On. My Shark Road slip-ons need Gaskets. The Screamin Eagle Street Cannons need Gaskets. My Vance and Hines Elimiator 300s though do not need gaskets. Instead you coat the inside of the connection of the muffler with Anti Seize anytime you put them back onto the headers.
If I were to be installing Slip-ons that wont be coming back off for 10s of thousands of miles, I would replace the Gaskets everytime. If they were coming on and off a few times because they need to be removed to access something, then I would reuse the gaskets until the point at which they wont be taken off any time soon.

So there's a good chance that the KW slip-ons have larger throat diameters than the outside diameter of head-pipes in which case then YES I would need gaskets?

And if so are the gaskets something that's typically available over the counter at dealerships?

Possibly.
I think the gaskets are like... 15$? each and yeah any HD should have them on hand.

Sometimes they easily come out of the old muffler and are reusable, sometimes not. I keep a spare set on the shelf for this reason.

I swapped out my stock LRST slip-on mufflers on my bike with only 40 miles on it. I damaged one (the metal ring it came off) trying to remove it. Bought two new ones at the dealer for $14.99 each.
