Default Small Rider

Good Morning.
Forgive me if this was already asked ten times over, I tried the search function and didn't find what I was looking for.

I have been riding for a decade and I recently purchased a 23' Softail Standard , Which I have been doing cross country rides on.

I have been seriously considering either a road king or street glide to make it even more enjoyable than it already is.

However, I am only 5'5" 105 lbs Male and the 200lb ish extra bike weight and extra seat height concerns me.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance and enjoy the ride!

Maybe a TriGlide or Freewheeler so weight of the bike is not a concern. Just my opinion and . I ride my TriGlide 90% and my SG 10% .

It’s all technique. Doesn’t matter what size you are, trying to muscle around 800 pounds won’t be easy. I see older women on full dressers occasionally and they make it look pretty easy.

You need to practice if you want to be a skilled, proficient rider no matter what size you are!
I’m 5’7”, 125 lbs and have no problem riding a Street Glide ……I am very aware of the bikes weight and practice regularly to stay sharp
Ride some demo bikes that you don’t care about or take a Ride Like A Pro course on a rented motorcycle
I took the class a month after getting my CVO and have no doubt about how much my skills and confidence improved…that’s me follow Jerry in the tight circles

plenty of woman ride big baggers, if you have any real experience riding...you will quickly realize the big bikes are very well balanced.

i fell cramped up now on street glides compared to my softail.

I have a friend who's your height that use to ride a Sporty. He's got you however by 70 ibs. He's strong to.

Got back into bikes on a Road King. He dropped it three times over a couple year period. All slow speed just not being careful.

He traded it for a Fatboy. Softails give you a tad more leg spread and are slightly lighter .

However, if your very observant of where you always stop, the Cruisers are definitely smoother on what you want a bike for.

PS

Welcome Vince.

Hope you enjoy your ride here.

Only as a suggestion, create a signature

You can add that bike photo to the signature too.

Also as a suggestion, make your next new post over in the new member welcome area to say hello.

I have another opinion. Traded my RKS in for a LRS. I just got tired of worrying (thinking) about the parking spot. Was it too much of a lean? Where was the gravel? Going to events and having to park in an uneven grass field. Loved the bike but don’t miss the little hassles. And they are little to lots of folks but they were getting bigger for me.

Maybe a reach seat and lowering blocks on a street glide will work for you. I use lowering blocks on my Ultra helps get my feet on the ground. As for a RK verse SG is the SG because of the radio, GPS and fairing.
