What are folks using for windshields on the Heritage and Deluxe and are you happy?
ie Long Ride Shields, KlockWerks, National, Memphis Shades, Clear View?
How tall are you and what height are you using?
Ive got the stock Harley detachable on my 20 Deluxe at 21 inches tall and Im 5'11". Im looking through it so Im going to change to another shield so I look over it and Im thinking 17" recurve?
With a square, some tape, a jigsaw and plastic cutting blade you can cut down a windshield to whatever height you like. I did it on my Road Star's $300 windshield and with a little filing and sanding you couldn't tell it from factory.
Use the square to transfer the curve of the top down however far, drawing a sharpie line on the masking tape. Work slowly with the saw, don't rush it. Sand any high spots down to the actual line.
Memphis Shades "half tint" 21" high windshield. I had to go to a taller shield because my sprung solo seat installation raised the seat height. Unfortunately, Memphis Shades has discontinued all their tinted shades, as the dye process apparently makes them susceptible to UV deterioration. Mine is showing early signs of micro cracking and I can't get an identical replacement.

I have the stock windshield for my 19 Heritage. Compared to my 02 Wide Glide it is a little low. I am 5' 7" but I am actually fine with the height. It keeps the rain and wind off me just fine. That said the windshield on my 02 Wide Glide is much taller. I would usually just look through it. Riding to work when it is fogged up, I will stretch and sit up straight and look over it.
So having rode the WG for about 10 years and the Heritage for about 3, I would have to say I like the slightly lower windshield. I can look over it while sitting comfortably no issues and it does its job.
I'm 5'11" and have an 18 Deluxe and use the H-D 18" shield, I ordered it with the bike, the dealer thought I should get the 21", but I had the same problem before where I was looking through or even worse, the screen tip at eye level with 21" screens!
When I had a Road King, I kept cutting down the 21" screen to the height I found best, which turned out to be 18"!
I have no issue with the 18" it gives good protection and not much buffeting, I can even wear my Bell Scout Air (H-D B09 3/4) helmet with no eye protection with it on!
Remember if you already have a screen you can just buy a different size replacement blade for it.
I'll probably be installing a Clearview myself this spring/summer. The attraction for me is the extra widths available and the built in center vent.
I am looking hard at the Clearview 16.5 and hoping its not too tall? I did the tape trick on my current 21 and I believe I could use either the 15 or 16.5. I want to make sure I can see over it clearly but still have decent protection for the constant barrage of rocks the cars and trucks throw at us here after driving dirt roads and gravel pits. I've had to fix many a bad rock dent/ding from the kick ups.
