Default Questions…

Bought a new 23 Fat Boy yesterday. Never ridden a Harley besides my 09 ultra. Noticed the trans in this FB slams extremely (to me anyway) hard on the down shift. 6-4 not too bad but below 4th each downshift feels like someone smacks the bottom of the bike with a sledge hammer. This normal for these newer models?

I guess that all depends on the speed/RPM when you’re down-shifting and how you’re working the clutch.

slowing down to a stop with clutch in. Slowly dropping down to 1st before a complete stop.

I would talk to your dealer, It should shift with ease.

My 22 Softail shifts much tighter than my 19 Touring, with a shorter throw as well. Give it time, it will loosen up and behave better with some miles on it.

that’s what I’m wondering. I’ll probably put a couple thousand miles on it and see if it changes. If it blowes out, it’s covered anyway.

My 21 Street Bob is a lot tighter than my 07 Road Glide was. Might be a good idea to check the trans fluid and primary fluid level. If both are at spec just put some miles on it. Like 702 said, it will probably loosed up a little over time.

My bike will KACHUNK hard into first gear, it's always done that. Kinda feels cool.
Funny enough the PanAm I rode was very similar but way less intense.

when I engage first when stationary I always have a significant klonk, but on the other hand neutral is very easy to find even when stationary whatever the situation, from first to neutral or from second towards neutral, it's a question of correctly adjusting the clearance above all...
