Default Comparison

Well last night one of my old friends I hadn't seen in awhile came by to show me an 08 Superglide he just bought. . It's bone stock with 7200 miles . He was bringing it by because he knew I was. Dyna fan and thought I still had one . I took it out for a test ride it was nice for sure but felt like it was really lacking in power compared to the 114 . I have my rippled corner I have to go through after I leave my house the 2022 Heritage takes this corner with ease the Dyna was like my Lowrider the back end skipped through it . I live 30 miles from the closest Interstate so I didn't ride it that far to see how smooth it was . Overall the Heritage definitely has the handling over the Dyna and the power which it should have . I try to get him to ride my Heritage but he wouldn't said it was too big . He's a long time Sportster fan Dyna is the biggest bike he's owned . So I would say the Heritage was better overall compared to the Dyna .

The Heritage is about 70 lbs heavier than the Dyna. Ironically, if he rode the Heritage he would probably say it felt lighter and more nimble. Maybe next time.

M8 Softails were a big improvement over previous generations. It's debated but some people think the new M8 Softail frame with the right wheel sizes out handles the FXR handedly. Some people though still die by the FXR.
Once I got a 260 tire on the back of my bike, it's incredible how much better handling than the Gen2 Indian Chiefs a FAT BOY of all bikes was.

I rode an FXR for years my first impression of riding the Heritage was it felt planted in corners like the FXR , be nice to have one to compare it too.

My 92 super glide.
I sold my 92 Fxr super glide when I bought my 20 fxlrs. Suspension was stock. I did put progressive 1/2” taller shocks and hd fork oil. My low rider s handles better out of the box but I believe the fxr with aftermarket suspension would be better. I believe the fxr frame is still the best frame Harley ever produced. The fxr at 600 pounds is like sportster weight also.

I have a FXRP and a Lowrider S modified to resemble a FXRT, both handle the many twisties here in Tn. with confidence, the new softail feeling more solid. It is 28 years younger and heavier so apples and oranges sort of. Dyna's are OK but can't match a FXR or a M8 softail IME.

I agree rode Dynas for years the new Softails handle better . I haven't owned an FXR since I think 2004 I've got some pics of it on an old computer somewhere. It was a 93 FXR Convertible , sold it to buy a Dyna Street Bob of course I regret that . I've looked for another one for awhile but the prices are crazy for them now .

Here's mine back in 1991, FXLR Custom, 105 cu in, lots of fun. Too long ago to remember a handling comparison. Similar to my Street Bob, I never grew up.

Mine was pretty much stock with the exception of an S&S carb and different exhaust. It was one of the most reliable bikes I ever owned .
