Default 2025 Softails - Custom Dynamics Might Not Work

I like my bike to be seen from behind. I have for years used Custom Dynamic lighting products to enhance the visibility of my bikes. So when I bought the 2025 LRST it was already in my mind that was going to add lights to the rear. To that end I ordered the rear bullet light JAE connections for a Sport Glide and the Custom Dynamics bullet light ProBEAM® Red Ring JAE LED Inserts for 2018-2022 FLSB Sport Glide. I also ordered the front bullet light ProBEAM® JAE Amber/White LED CVO™ Turn Signals. These really don't seem to be the problem, although CD has warned me the bike might throw codes because of these lights. They do offer a front turn signal light that is made to work in the 2025 Softails, ProBEAM® Amber/White LED Turn Signals for 2025 Softails, PB-AW-25JAE. They will also soon have an insert for the rear signals, ProBEAM® Red Rear LED Turn Signals for 2025 Softails, PB-R-25JAE.

So where I ran into an insurmountable problem was when I tried to add a Custom Dynamics taillight,CD-INT-TL-NW-S. No matter what I did, when I hooked the taillight to the bike the brake light would stay on. Just hooking the taillight to a battery, it worked perfectly. The bike checked out, it was not supplying power to the brake light unless the brakes were activated. The bike was throwing a code when the taillight was hooked up. When I called CD on Monday, I was informed that the taillight would not work on a 2025 Softail. So basically, just a word of warning, if you are thinking about ordering Custom Dynamics lights for your 2025 Softail, make sure they will work on the bike. It will save you a lot of headaches and money.

Aside from the turn signal inserts, they do have one headlight replacement that will work on the LRST, the Shark Demon™ 2 Performance LED Headlight for Low Rider ST. The one caveat is the the front turn signals have to have the ProBeam inserts for the 2025 models. They also told me that taillights and headlights were in development.

I installed the cvo pro beam Jae lights on my 25 breakout.
to use them you will have to swap the yellow and white wires.
This was a couple months ago as there weren't any other options available.

Got it sounds like you ran into some compatibility issues with the Custom Dynamics taillight on your 2025 LRST. Their current taillight doesn’t work with the new Softails, and the bike throws codes when installed. Stick with their 2025-specific turn signal inserts (PB-AW-25JAE for front, PB-R-25JAE for rear, coming soon). Their Shark Demon 2 headlight works but requires the matching ProBEAM inserts.

Bottom line: Double-check with CD before buying some lights are still in development for the 2025 models. Hope this saves you some hassle.

"Roberto88" = Chat GPT It's so helpful to have software summarize what's already been said,

It's good to know that they didn't cause any codes, but I'm changing them out anyway. I did have to swap the wires, so now I will have to swap them back. Since I just plugged them in and snapped them in place, I'm hoping CD will let me return them. Possibly might be able to return the rear inserts also. And yes, I guess I should have checked with Custom Dynamics before ordering.

I'm more curious as to why harley did away with the running lights on the 25's.

Harley Davidson has had a habit of making changes year to year on many things. The aftermarket has their hands full, offering products.
