Default Looks like I'm adding a Street Bob

So I have a 23 LRST, the wife has a 2020 tri glide. Now she says she wants a motorcycle. I really like the new nightster, and she entertained the idea. A riding friend recently got a Street Bob and put that bug in her ear. They are both kinda short. Well, she actually thought the nightster looked too fast... 😊 She is totally flat footed on the SB... So looks like we are getting one.

It's a 2025. All the little improvements are really nice over my LRST. Anything in particular I should be looking at to fix other than comfort/ergo stuff? She doesn't want me wrenching on it first thing. With warantee, she won't want to touch that so not even a tune which is a bummer. Slip on not a problem, but cat is in header. But she also has to know she is going to keep riding it before she is going to put money into it. I already told her though my guess is her trike is going to get very lonely.

Do 25s have the vented trans cover now? I can swap that easy if not. I think we are doing it Tuesday...

I would consider a seat upgrade as the stock seat offers poor support.

upgraded my 2025 SB seat with the Hammock seat. Very comfortable! I highly recommend.

Does it move you at all over syock... Forward/back up/down?
I aasked her what she see the bike for... She said regular, doing anything bike. That was a strike against nightster because that was never going to be a tourer. Comfort will be addressed for sure and it will have to be all day comfort.

2025's do indeed have vented trans covers, and no crankcase breathers in the heads. From the factory they route the trans cover breather up into the intake, but I moved that to an external breather
right away, so I'm not sending any oil vapor into the intake. I used high temp epoxy to plug the hole in my arlen ness air cleaner where that hose would have gone

Congrats to your wife on her new ride.

Unlike your wife, I immediately trashed my warranty and totally gutted my 2025 Fat Boy. No regrets

Sweet, I'll getting that out.

At least with this, she also has to figure out if this is what she wants and it's a keeper. So she won't dump money in right away. I didn't do my LRST right away. I put my tuner on at 18 months. I put a cam in mine and her trike, I know she won't do that, but pipes/filter and tune, it will get there. I know what it did for my 117.

But I am really stoked she wants to get on 2 wheels. I know she will love it.

Honestly, all stock HD seats are crap in my opinion. I personally prefer Corbin, but any quality aftermarket seat like Saddleman, Corbin etc is worth the money.

Sportsters lost their way. Street Bob's and Softail Standards are the new gateway bikes. Low, nimble, easily upgradable, plenty fast out of the box but not arm ripping fast. I have a young lady coming to look to buy my 20 Standard tonight. She's moving on from sport bikes but doesn't want a "slow" first cruiser. I told her this 128" is no slouch but years on a R1 have her pretty confident lol. Your wife will love the SB

She shouldnt feel too cocky. Your 128 prolly has a lot less HP than the R1 but a lot more torque than her R1, and all at an RPM thats likley where she is used to idling
Harley likely weighs almost twice. Brakes and handles WAY differently.

As long as she expects it to be totally different she should be fine

You're unloading that bike already? Damn. Someone is going to get a really clean ride. I wish that was around when i was looking. Probably would have bought that over my '23 LRST.
