Let me re-phrase my response.
Strich talked about reading a threadwhere the person useda 2-quart saucepan
from the Dollar Store for 6 bucks to make his a/c cover.
I'm assuming that he's referencing my "old school a/c cover" thread from a few months ago.
I believe you (that it's been done for years) but I've only been riding for 4 years
(all though I've been interested in bikes for a lot longer)
and I've never seen that mod before and
came up with it on my own.
It is an easy and obvious mod and I can see where someone would have thought of it before.
But really, hasn't d@mn near everything already been done before by somebody?

(with exceptions made for state of the art technology, of course)

Don't know who invented it.
Still doin em, when appropriate.
Did one three weeks ago on a 1954 HD KH Racer.
They look and work good. mud

troll, I guess it was the oversize font claim to being the inventor
that threw me off.
To this day, I still remember when I invented the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
It was about 1958-9 or so.
Went in the kitchen, put the two between the bread - deeelicious.
Made one for my brother right away.
He agreed wholeheartedly with me on my status as genius.
That lasted all of three 4 hours til my mother got home from work,
asked if we wanted a snack before dinner, and of course we said yeah.
She came out with two sandwiches,
yep, PBandJ.

Turn signal black-out : If you've added smoked lenses to your turn signals and arent thatimpressed cause you can still see the amber bulbs .... this is for you. Hit the parts store for new amber bulbs ( 2 each amber 1156 and 1157) and some black/dark gray paint. I used Krylon Fusion although I think BBQ High Temp Black would be best. Tape off each bulb so that you can paint the back halfthat you see through your smoked lenses. Spray with a couple of coats and let 'em dry. Re-install with the new blacked-out bulbs. Now, you'll have a much darker .... almost totally black turn signals .... but once you flip them on the un-painted portion will still light up amber and reflect off the inner unitas normal. Done deal!!

Tinted turn sig lenses
backed out turn sigs.... spray tints spray... just sand them down a bit till they are smooth and hit them with ALOT of light coats LIGHT COATS of spray tints (most auto parts stores carry it like 15 bucks) before you start to paint was the lenses with dish soap... this will dry out the plastic and help the spray stick.... you can wet sand so it is a gloss look but i wanted a matt finish... after you get the darkness you are looking for a few coats of clear and you are good to go! here are some pics... Kind of goes with the above post...

You can also just paint the inside reflective part of the housing flat black,

Either way I would not use the normal amber bulbs but the Sylvania Silverstars. That way you don't see any amber in there at all unless the light is on.

Well, yesterday I was thumbing through the new J&P catalog and found these
so i orderd them. If I don't like them then I'll make some. I've already got the aluminum bar 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" x 12" that cost $20.
