I've been wanting to relocate my horn ever since I saw the "naked jugs" pics
posted by another forum member.
I decided to try and hide mine behind the battery box.
I modified the "cow bell" by cutting away the portion I wanted.
The first pic should show a cardboard cut out of the useful portion.
After reattaching the horn to this, I bent up some brackets which I used to
mount the horn the battery box.
Hopefully the second pic shows this.
Re-route the wires, and you're done.
The re-routing was a bit of a pain. The horn wires are wrapped up with some others,
so you have tocut 'em away.
I couldn't get any real good pics of the bike as a whole, due to the limited space
in my shed. The horn side now looks like most any without the horn. I'm not sure what
I will do with the stock bracketry for the horn. May just remove the rubber mount, may cut
off the 90o bend ... I've left as is until I decide.
I'm pleased with the look. However, my horn now sounds like a wounded duck.
I'll have to really look at how it is bolted up and how it is positioned to see if I can
get the trumpet back.
I like what you did with your horn, I'm working on some ideas for the spot where the horn use to be. Maybe a small bag roll or something don't know yet. I will take pics when I get something figured out. This how to thread is probably the best one!!
The volunteer fastener is for the air cleaner cover.
First of all, pick a doodaddy.
.
.
Gonna use an OogaBooga, and first of all a 17/64" penetration, below.
.
.
Tap in this case is for the 5/16 / 18 thread.
.
.
Below, you see I have shaped the doodad for a good fit into the concave recess
of the A/C cover.
Also, see that I have used a stud.
Calculate length needed by trial fit into the air filter
and add on near the depth of the doodad penetration.
.
.
Here below is the finished fastener installed.
.
.
Pictured below, you can see the nut and washer that actually
fastens the cover to the AC itself.
.
.
Wrong color though.
.
.
So, now we have three or four different horn relocate options.
WS6 has another one, from way back when,
under and behind the rearforks at the front pivot?????
