* HOW TO * under fifty bux *
I moved my horn up front on my wide glide. no cost.
I unbolted the horn, from the factory location and mounted it in front above the voltage regulator.
a longer bolt, washer and nut installed in the hole that is there, thanmove the horn forward and put the nut on. easy.
I had to make a wire harness extension also. a couple wire ends, wire, and some black plastic cable shield. done.
.
.
now the real story, I have a factory security system. I wired the horn up the first time with the + wire extended to the horn and other side of horn to ground. Guess what, lucky me the bike didn't start. I had also just installed a t-max, along with a few other little things like cig lighter and acc wire plugs.
after peeing in my pants I unhoked the horn and it started. must be the alarm? than hooked both wires to the horn and factory harness and all is well.

Agreed - great job on the index. Once I get smarter I'll try to add some stuff to this great thread. Thanks to Mudpuddle for putting the threads in one place. We owe him much beer, more than he can drink by himself, so duty calls us to help in drink it, either in absentia, or in person.

well here's a good example of how great this thread is....
inspired by the nippon 200mm. dyna and our very own metal-guru mud...
i broke out the hole-saw and did some boring of holes myownself
didnt turn out exactly as i planned but not too shabby....
i wont bore you w/ the process..as mud's tutorial needs no elaboration...
so here's a shot of the finished product powdercoated and installed by yours truly...

Good to see results from some of the postings here.
Like that perforated license bracket too.
Keep up the good work.

i started drilling and did not take into consideration that mounting bracket that is behind there...
so for all of you that do this...
REMEMBER TO FACTOR IN THAT MOUNTING SUPPORT!!!
it is tough stuff and will ruin what you are doing!

But, the bracket is no tougher than the rest.
Like you say, factor it in.
Mainly, I did not want to drill out the spotwelds.
Four of them on the front mount, four on the rear.
(spotwelds are indicated by the small red circles in the images below)
Boring through is not a problem if you follow

I hope the Admins just leave it floating, as it is now.
You could bookmark it, and/or,
if more folks would comment, it would stay on page one.
Average 325 hits per day, very few comment.
Quite a few folks have added their mods.
imp, thanks for the horn relocate adventure.
Good job.
Another variation. It's up to 5-6 or so now.
The more, the better.

Agreed - great job on the index.

And I do appreciate you drinking a few for me.
I'll return the favor.

Got a dipstick in the mail this afternoon,I have a good many old stainless steel blades (flea market cheapos) floating around the desk drawers so I opted for a stubby to begin my project. I am planning to do more as I found it quite fun. I am going to make an assortment, I want a longer one right off the bat but the stubby has its charm also.
I twisted and rolled out the stick, this one canme out quite easy.Ground down the knife end, got her hot enuff to melt the plastic ball and then poked it back in the hole. Seems strong enuff to me but I am considering filling the rubber seal up with steel epoxy (I love the stuff) It will make it heftier and stronger too I imagine...
I ground the saw/shark teethe in the top of the blade just because it looks baDASS. I am going to drill the indicator holes tommorow at work and also fill the rubber gasket with steel.
Thanks for the cool ideas. Ill post more as soon as I make some.
Got your cap yet Battersby? Nice indexalso btw.
