.
Thanks for the compliment mike. Appreciate it.
Here's another one of those zero dollar pieces.
I know you've done one, but I don't think you wrote it up??
Side mount plate bracket....
Lots of folks like these, I don't, I'll never run one.
But, they are real easy to build.
First off, a cardboard pattern.
I am utilizing dual mounting points -
the axle, and the upper belt guard rear mount.
.
.
I used a straightedge aligned with the shock to determine the inclination,
and then marked position to bore the upper bolt hole.
.
.
Now I use my pattern to lay off the stock.
I'm using a shelf thing of some sort that I found a few years back in a dumpster probably.
There is enough material on the "shelf" to make four brackets.
I'm going to make four different styles as prototypes.
This stock is .063" thick, and already has a nice sharp fold.
.
.
Scribe the cutoff target line, defined by the rough cardboard pattern.
Refine the shape to your liking.
Here below, I am using a 2" flat washer to scribe this radius around the axle nut.
.
.
Now, cut out to the scribed line.
Below, I am using my high speed die grinder for the extraction.
.
.
Following are a few installed shots.
First image shows that I have welded in a gusset,
so the harmonics generated do not amplify into
a leave your license plate in the wild blue yonder type situation.
.
.
So this is the first of four styles I am going to produce.
Suggestions from one and all on the next style will be appreciated.
Bullet ridden?? Radiused?? Faceted??
.
.
I like these new Texas license plates... Native Texan.. Remember the Alamo..............
.

mud.. i must confess.. i bought mine from bareknuckle choppers.. raw, w/ out a light..so i DID powdercoat it myself..assembled and wired it as well.... but thats it... good job on that one you did though.. noticed you included a gussett..i wouldnt have one without
Hey Mud nice on the finger dipstick same on the file... Dont know which I like the best.
As far as the ball goes, and I know its late in the game since you have some made, the original
dipsticker ball can be used. I am making one now out of a straight razor, c-clamp and the original
plastic ball. I just cut the stick of it and drilled it out I have to pick up some c-rings to go around where I ground the bladeshaft round to go through the hole in the ball.
I really like the finger, I may have to have one

I think we Dyna riders should consider ourselves lucky that we've got our own personal parts manufacturer out here on the boards so eager to assist and help us out. Thanks Mud.
Need to keep this thing up at least on the first page.
Mud,
Seeing that pic of you standing on the seat tells me that your either braver or crazier than I am,maybe both.
Nice work on the bracket and dash panel.
I thin its fairly safe to say thatthe Mudsicle is going to be one very slick low buck bike, even if it is a Dyna.
[sm=joke.gif]Guy's so please don't jump all over me cause I like my Softy better.
I'm a short **** and I can reach the ground and forward controls easier on one.
