A coupleof guys told me to drill 3-4 holes in the baffles of my stock muffler to get a little more sound until I can save up enough for the V&amp\\;H big radius pipes I want.&nbsp\\; '08 Fat Bob fuel injected.&nbsp\\; Any suggestions, bitches, moans or complaints?

Here's the link to the one in the Softail section, https://www.hdforums.com/m_3318604/tm.htm

BTW in the first posting as well as the links to the various mods

I included the links to this one and the Bagger and Sporty ones.

Frank, I don't see the link to the SportSter HowTos
at your SoftTail DIY cheap Mods.

I'm 6'4" and needed forward control extension really bad but hated the fact that they cost $175.00 from kuryakin (sp) so I decided to make my own.&nbsp\\; I had some help from my father in law mainly because he had some of the tool to make it easier, mainly a torch.
&nbsp\\;I eyeballed the angle the forwards were setting at and laid out a new back plate and cut it out with the tourch and grind the edge smooth.&nbsp\\; used the control to mark and drill the 4 holes in the plate. painted black.
&nbsp\\;to extend the brake rod I cut the old stud off and drilled and tapped the rod with 5/16 x 24 tap (same size as the brake cylinder on my 99 fxdl) then used a 5/16 x 24 all thread 4.5" long to extend the rod 3" and give 3/4" threads in each end
&nbsp\\;
for the shift rod (may replace one day) I used a tight fitting piece of tubing and bent it in an S to move the shifter out away from the frame, cut the shifter in half, slid it in the tubing, drilled the tubing through the shift rod and pinned it in place, measuring 3" greater than before it was cut.
&nbsp\\;
when I mounted it, it still hit the frame on downshift so I used 1/2 worth of stacked washers to move the left peg out another half inch.

Mounted the plates with the original bolts and bought some nuts bolts and washers to mount the forwards on the plates.

Total cost 10 bucks for the bolts and all thread and a die to clean up the all thread after cut.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; had the scrap metal to make the plates and tubing for the shifter.

Parts needed
Tubing 12"s
All Thread 4.5"s
4 ea Bolts nuts and lock washers
12 washers if you need to move your pegs out
black paint
3/8 or 1/4 in plate (about a 4" x 8" piece)

Great thread, I’ve been laid up for a couple of days and have read the lot.Good work Mud and all
I’m 6’5 and had trouble finding long enough extensions for fxdb.I got some 2” mild steel plate about 10mm thick and cut it out using an angle grinder then stensiled holes using the exsisting. I cut thread in the front holes to keep it neat and used exsisting bolts and to attach it to frame used left over bolts from mid controls.
I cut the brake rod and added 3” but it needs to be done right at the end where it heads straight otherwise it will foul the pipes. With the shift linkage I cut the end off it, cut a thread and added a uni/yolk thing which gave me just enough length.
I painted them black and total cost was 0 because I had it all lying round. No engineering marvel but feel heaps more comfortable and have had no dramas for 4000 miles. They do seem to scrape a bit more but maybe I’m just leaning further.
Photos are off phone so sorry about quality
