D&D Fatcat on Heritage Pics
...and I think it looks pretty sweet! I was considering the fat cat for mine too to be a little different, but dont know exactly how they sound. I read they are a bit high pitched, but I could be wrong. I want something with a low rumble. So anyone that has them installed please share!
When I bought my Fat Cat, Eastern Performance had the best price, with free shipping. It was at my door in 5 days. I also ordered new exhaust gaskets and flange nuts from them. One of my original flange nuts fell out of my hand while I was trying to put it on the upper stud on the aft cylinder and completely disappeared, so it was handy having the extra nuts.
FYI: My muffler came in its own separate box, that had the standard baffle code on it. I called EP and they said it was the quiet baffle. I found some pictures of the Fat Cat muffler with the standard and quiet baffles and mine was the quiet baffle.

It sounds good, but is still a bit louder then I expected. I had researched exhaust systems for 2-1/2 years. When I bought my bike, the previous owner had Samson II,Rip Saws put on it. They were drag pipes, with no baffles and had torque cones at the head end. The bike ran great with them, but was outrageously loud.
I tried to listen to a lot of other exhausts, but it was hard to tell on other bikes, since I have the 103" engine. I assume you have the 80" engine, so pipes on your bike wont sound quite the same, as with my engine and they will be quieter on yours. I would think the sound from the Fat Cat would be more to my liking with your engine. I like an aggressive louder exhaust, just not overly loud.

I was taking off a perfectly good exhaust, just to get a bit quieter one. I wanted to make sure there would be a noticeable difference.

I have the quiet baffle version. Be aware, also, that there is a specific model for FLSTC's with bags, which extend the pipe out to just beyond the bag. The quiet baffle isn't really what you would call "quiet" at all, while the non-quiet baffle model is L.O.U.D.
You can switch out the baffles, but they're not designed to be switched and it's a bear to do it. I would strongly suggest ordering it with the quiet baffle from the outset: you won't be disappointed.
Have you ever heard that tinny, metallic sound from a lot of pipes out there? These aren't them. They give out a low rumble at idle and low rpm -- a real "Harley sound" -- but when you get on it the pitch rises to a real throaty sound, but they're never tinny sounding. Nothing high-pitched about them at all, in any mode, ever. Also, I do a lot of long-distance at 65-75 mph, and at that level they put out a pleasant (to me, at least) rumble.
The look is a love-it-or-hate-it issue. I happen to love the look, others not so much. The chrome is excellent, and there has been zero bluing in over a year and about 12,000 miles of use.
The D&D model number for the Heritage (mine is a 2006) pipe is 514-32B. I paid $581 for the pipe plus an additional $40 for the quiet baffle (it comes assembled), plus $26 shipping. About $650 or so all in. That was in May of 07, though. I got mine from M&M Cycles. Great people to work with, very helpful.
Let me know if you need any more info, and good luck.
