had a few members ask me about my speedo setup. i got the speedo housing and riser setup off ebay for 115bux.. its the older straight model.. i have the jackyl tank lift and didnt think the newer curved riser would clear my tank.. i think the straight one looks better anyway.. installed without a hitch other than having to extend the wires 4 inches.used my own speedometer. all the color codes were the same.. has bulbs instead of the LEDs.. plan on putting drag bars on it in the spring.. hope i answered all the questions..
ride on!
Looks good ... I was seriously considering this mod. I have a friend who has a 1200 Custom with the same stock speedo setup.
I was actually looking at the later models with the pull-back risers, but I don't have the tank lift. I don't care for the look of pull-back risers with ape hangers, though; so, I abandoned that concept. I do like the way it eliminates the speedo from the front of the bars.
very nice, this is what I'm searching for my 2003 FXD. So this is a sportster 1200 construction? Any idee what models (from what year) will fit on my bike so that I don't have to change other stuff? After the mod, will the handlebars be higher and has the speedo enough place?
Did you have to modify your headlight mounting. I bought this for my 05 and the top mounted headlight interferes.
Aron
On the custom models, they have a bottom mount headlight and a trim piece where the brow usually goes. Maybe a bottom mount and trim piece will solve the issue.

De,
Here're the 2002 Sportster models parts diagrams for the handlebar and speedo/riser break-down (see attachments)
Right now (10-21-2009) Ebay has auctions for two of them: firts ... second
Newer models have the pull/back integrated speedo/riser clamp combination:
Unfortunately I do not know the p/n's for this type of riser combination.
The 2002 model will fit to the Dyna2003 upper t.t. for sure: equal mounting parts (rubber bushing a.s.o) are used on both XL and Dyna models.
I guess the handlebar will go up about 4 inches; I'm not sure if you will have to change throttle and/ore clutch cables, indicator lamps set-up and electric wires.
