Scored some rims and the front bearings are in a casing. The casings are rounded and seems like something else is needed to match up with the flat profile of the inside of the forks. Anyone familiar with installing these? Is a thin spacer or washer needed between bearings and forks? The rim measurement seems very close to fitting in the forks without any other spacers. Probably over thinking this...
It looks the like the casing comes out a bit further than the stock bearings. I would test fit it and see if there is any side to side motion of the wheel on the jack first. Then if there is try to figure it out. Nice rims. Bling bling!
What spacers are you using and who makes the wheels? On some aftermarket wheels you have to buy the center hub seperate from the wheel for different bikes.
I thought the same thing. I took a rim off a 08 Softail Standard and put it on a 08 Deluxe. Should be a clean swap...nope my offset was to the left 1/8".
Without better pics I do not know if you are good but spacing is a real big deal. You can burn your bearings up good if they are to loose or to tight. Same with the torque specs.
If for some reason you need new spacers I just bought a set from www.vulcanworks.net I have never heard of them or known anyone that has. I was "iffy" but they were only $20 with shipping. I ordered them Friday night LATE and they were in the mail Saturday afternoon with priority shipping! Should have them Monday or Tuesday. That is FAST!
Kuma...great find on the wheels! And ya those spacers should work just fine. If you take the spacer off the wheel, you should see a shoulder that extends out the back just slightly. That will line up to the inner bearing race.
Remember that your axle actually only bolts to one of your sliders, and the other side is clamped in. I am thinking you are really going to like your new wheels!
