Nice job Quadancer, one question.
Where in Wallyworld did you find the jel pad?

Thanks Quadancer for the write-up and pics. The seat mod site was very helpful. Guess I’ll order some foam and see if I can make my seat more comfy.

Default Oil Filter Removal Funnel

Don't know about you, but I have never liked the thought of oil saturating my rubber front motor mount mount each time I remover my oil filter. I also hate the thought of spending $20 plus tax for the cheap pos orange plastic HD oil catch funnel. Imagine that must be worth about .005 cents worth of plastic and $18.95 in packaging cost. So in my search for a better (spelled c-h-e-a-p) alternative I came up with this idea.

I made an oil catch funnel from a discarded Purex Laundry Detergent bottle.

Fashioned using only a Stanley razor knife and a pair of industrial sheers as seen here.

Here's an end view of the funnel.

Funnel in place ready for filter removal.

Here comes the oil, away from the rubber mount. With caution most of the oil is guided safely away.

Filter removed with minimal clean up!

I'm not gonna say this is a perfect solution but it's one hell of a start. I tried several different plastic containers but this one seems to fit the best so far. Besides, the price was right.
Keep the shiny side up...spaceblue

Don't know why but the site would only allow me 2 photos in the text.
I'll add the remaining 4 as attachments...if it lets me do that.

Default Missing Photos

Here's the remaining photos. Being old and dumb technology never seems to work for me. Sorry if this post is redundant. I did a search using the word funnel and didn't see anything so I posted.

I tried wrapping plastic under it, and that does NOT work, so the bottle is a good one!

WallyWorld Gel pads - in automotive at SOME of the stores. I've had several people say they couldn't find them, but I've seen them in 3 stores now. About $21.00 because it's the waffled type, not solid gel.

Thanks Quadancer for the write-up and pics. The seat mod site was very helpful. Guess I’ll order some foam and see if I can make my seat more comfy.
If you're on a FL, you may be surprised to see just how THICK the stock foam is! Mine got comfy by the second pic, where I was just cutting down into it and cupping the butt, even without the gel insert. You may not NEED any more foam. And the Harley foam is very stiff; you'd never bottom out, but if your shaping is correct, it doesn't even matter. Look at some of the unpadded chopper seats; it's all about shape.
