Deluxe Tank Lift Install: Parts purchased from dkcustomproducts.com

1/26/12:
Got down and dirty on this one. Initially I had trouble getting it installed. I could not get the brackets to line up properly to get the bolts to go through the top holes and the tank ears. I had to clamp down the bottom bolt so that the brackets would slightly "bend" the tank ears out so the bracket would fit. Obviously a quality product since it BENT the ears out for fitment! Check the pics out.

Hey Daurwid,

Glad you got the deluxe option installed. It will set you tank more level, and definitely looks good with both rocker covers exposed.

I am digging your ammo cans. Lots of guys don't like the look, but as you know they are very handy, sturdy and waterproof! I've had some on my sporty for the last few years and it's amazing how much they hold and much easier to get in and out of than soft bags.

Cool thread!

Thanks man! Great product. Even me getting frustrated at first but just had to work it into place. Sweating over the bike makes me enjoy it that much more!

I'll add to the notes that I rode into work today. Had to get gas and fill the tires on the way in. front was way low and I had a hell of a time trying to get the rear done, gave up and lost the cap to boot. Going to grab one of those new mini compressors that hook to the battery tender tomorrow and a new cap.

What was awesome for me was being able to put in 4.2 gallons of gas into the tank. It's been months since I've been able to fit anywhere near that amount of gas with only the 3" lift up front and no rear lift. The deluxe option is the way to go to get that gas space back! So worth the effort.

I purchased a few items.
#91991-98 Left Side Saddlebag Guard Bag and Water Bottle Holder - Bar & Shield Logo - Matches the one I have on the other ammobox
Throttle Rocker II http://throttlerocker.com/throttle-rocker/2000.html
- I found the Throttle Rocker really lets me reduce how much of a grip I need to have to maintain speed. My fatigue is not nearly what it was.

On order:
#59217-03 Narrow Front Fender Mud Flap
#
62700017 Premium Oil Cooler Kit for DynaŽ Models

Should see these sometime next week maybe.

Been riding to work since I got my heated gloves back from sending them out for warranty repair back in December. Long wait but well worth it. Gave me the opportunity to install the Deluxe option correctly. The big touring bag has been an amazing back rest! Saved me from spending $500+ on that stupid new Dyna seat w/ Backrest that came out 6 months after purchasing the sundowner solo and pillion. Yeah I'm a little sour with myself for not waiting a little longer, oh well. I also have a new set of handlebars to install but going to wait on that until I have the oil cooler to do at the same time. Will post again once I've got the parts in.

So, got the Mud Flap in and installed. Already noticed that I wasn't getting pegged with the small rocks on the road anymore. My face mask seems to appreciate it too.

I ordered the Vibranators from vibranator.com for my handlebars. Gonna wait till they show before pulling things apart. Got the 14" handlebars and a oil cooler to put on too.

Daurwid - love your write ups man! Was wondering if you could post pics of the tank without the bag on it? I'm interested to see the lines of the deluxe lift - how it flows with the seat whatnot! Cheers

On my lunch today, I quickly removed the bag and took some photos. Unfortunately the way I setup the bag and how I installed the deluxe lift option kept the tie downs for the bag on. So there's still two straps shown. You should be able to see the lines of it though from these.
