Flush mount fuel gauge install question?
I learned this the hard way on 2 occassions when I failed to snug it up before pushing it down flush. After I gased up, I took off onto the freeway. About 2 minutes later.....cruising at 75 mph......a wave of gas starting flying up into my face, eyes and mouth, and no twisting while it's flush will do a thing to stop the gas. You have to pop it back up, twist tight then push down and twist flush.
The gas really flowed out too......all over your clothes, gloves, leathers, tank, seat,....and does burns your eyes, face and tastes NASTY. It can be very dangerous especially at those higher speeds.
Love the look of the lights, BUT DONT TRUST IT FOR FUEL LEVELS. I always "re-set" one of my odometers each time I fill up, and for my Low Rider, riding speeds and weather conditions, I start looking to fill up when it reads around 150 miles.
This is my THIRD set of flush mounts because for some reason, the LED lights went screwy on me on the other 2.
One minute it would read 5 lights, then drop to 2 lights, then go up to 3 lights, then 1 light all when riding level and after I had just filled up........ etc.
So far, the last set installed have worked flawlessly for 2 full riding seasons.
Good luck.

Do remove the front tank mount bolt and prop up the front of the tank as suggested.
If you are going to throw the old gauge away then just cut its wires at the gauge end - makes it a lot easier to get the wires out.
Getting the pins out of the existing socket is the hardest bit. Doesn't explain how to do this in the instructions, just tells you to look in the workshop manual. If you don't have a manual then just Google it, there's lots of explanations online.

Good idea by someone about undoing front tank mount and propping tank up while you work.
