Power Vision Speedo Re-calibration
Thought I'd just toss this out there -
2012 SG - If any of you Power Vision owners have ever thought how nice it would be to have a speedometer that actually reads correctly (novel concept, right?), it's easy to do with a PV.
The WinPV software that comes with the PV device has a line item for speedo calibration, and it's only one number entered into a cell in the software. All that's required to change what the speedo reads is to change that number, save the "tune", upload the tune to the PV, then flash the bike.

thanks for pointing that out, my speedo reads about 5 mph off at 70. so when my speedo says 70 i''m actually doing 65. and i kinda like it that way. i feel like i can roll a little quicker and in actuality, i'm still legal. the really weird part is that in a 65mph zone, if i'm rolling at an indicated 70mph, i'm still passing a bunch of cagers....

Mine was 4% fast originally and changing the speedometer calibration in the ECM with the PV from 2058 to 2150 put it right with my GPS. If you put the two numbers to a calculator the difference is about 4%, so I would assume if you were to increase your value by the percentage of error it'd be a good starting point.

Under the stub item "Gear", there are 2 sub-items, "Gear Ratios" and "Speedometer Calibration".

I used a simple ratio and proportion calculation as follows:

Top left number is the current WinPV "Speedo Calibration" amount before any changes to the ECM. Below that is my actual speed with the bike's speedo indicating 60 mph, measured by GPS. Top right, "X", is the WinPV "Speedo Calibration" number I want to know, so I can input it into WinPV and flash it to the ECM. Bottom right is the target speed.
From high school math, just cross-multiply and divide. Then input "X" into WinPV, flash the bike, and "Voila"..corrected speedo.
Disclaimer: Always keep a backup of any existing ECM map prior to updating with a new map. I can assume no responsibility for what you do to your bike.
