I have a 2013 Ultra Classic and want to replace the fairing speakers and add an amp. I have read, read and re-read all of the posts in this forum and seems like the more I read, the more confused I become. What I want is a BT 2180 amp and a pair of BT 7.1 speakers, but I tend to get fixated on the best and go overboard on things. I am thinking of other options that will probably give me great results and at the same time cost a lot less. I'm thinking about the Infinity Kappa 62.11i's and a Soundstream PN2.350D amp or a RF PBR300X2. I don't intend to replace the HU and am thinking either combination would be more than adequate for my needs.
I would appreciate any feedback and also (besides the speaker adapters) would there be anything else I would need to install the amp, i.e. mounting hardware or wiring kit.
If you listen to FM, then your amp choices are limited and obviously the 2180 is one of those choices and works great with the stock HU. Now if you are looking to cut some cost and don't mind risking losing FM I'd take a look at the Cerwin Vega B2 over the Soundstream or PBR. MUCH better sound quality from the B2 for slightly a tad more in cost over the other two.

I don't see anything wrong with being fixated on the best. . .lol. We pay anywhere from 20 to 40K for these bikes Not to mention the extra 5 to 10K we put in these things AFTER we buy them. I'd say we are all fixated on the best. . .lol. Get what you want brother.

You know, you and Haze are right. I have tried to talk myself out of Biketronics several times and I always keep coming back to them. Funny thing is, I have never heard any BT's, but I like the fact that they are made for Harley's, Lifetime Warranty and the BT2180 & 7.1 package comes with everything you need to install them. The installation videos on their website make it look really easy to install and I need all of that I can get. It only costs 90% more to go first class.

I couldn't be happier with my choice. The BT 2180 with the 7.1speakers are awesome! With the package deal and HDF member discount they weren't that much more cost wise than other kits or combinations of components. $585.00 shipped to my door with everything needed for install. I can now look foreward to a good HU and thats all I'll need. Was out for a ride today and it was kinda windy, I had em cranked up and sounded great. I no longer even feel the need for Lowers or Saddle bag lid speakers, They sound that good even with the stock HK HU. Besides who else gives a lifetime warranty on electrical or audio equipment?

Yep, Give em a call and talk to Donna. Everything she told me was right on the money. The 2180 amp and 7.1's will make the stock Harmon Kardon sound better than it ever has...But they will also amplify its limitations/deficiencies, Hence the need/want on my part to wait and get a quality HU with at least a 5, or 7 or more band Equalizer and all the new modern goodies
i.e. HDFM,Bluetooth,USB.. I may even go out and get an Ipod. I know I won't be wishing I'd got something better. Sure the 4180 with four of the 7.1 pro's would be amazing but that would also be my definition of overkill lol.
I know I'm gonna **** some folks off but oh well. I've heard the BT combo of 4180 and 7.1 speakers and was not impressed based on the cost. The sound was great and all but was it worth almost double over the PBR300x2 and kappa 62.11i combo? Hell no. Actually, the kappa combo have more defined highs and mids than the BT combo. My honest opinion is that the pbr300x2 and kappa 62.11i combo is the best bang for the buck available.
