Default BT2180 + Magic Box

Well, a few weeks back I spoke to the dealer about flashing my HU and he refused to even discuss an aftermarket amp and flashing my radio. He said he would only flash if I installed a Boom system. So, I have decided to go with the BT2180 amp and include a magic box and avoid the flash for now. My question is, the BT2180 comes with a Adjustable Line Output Converter. Do I still need this if I use a Magic Box?

1- Find another dealer that one's an idiot who is so short sighted he turns down business.

Don't have the magic box or that amp but it won't be long before someone who does answers.

The 'magic box' is a line converter (of sorts). It will run into your RCA (low level) input on the amplifier However, I have found that the the level coming out of it is VERY low ... it was too low to drive any real volume from my RF PBR300X2. I added a line driver between the magic box and the amp to boost the signal. The adjustable gain on the BT amp may compensate enough ... I have no way of knowing ... however, the line driver was cheap. It's a PAC unit that I bought on eBay and has done the trick for me.
I'm running stock 6.5 Boom system through: Magic Box - Line Driver - RF PBR300X2 - Polk MM651. I may swap in the Kappa 62.11i's that I have sitting on the shelf or I may just run it as is until I change amp and speakers for bigger!! (I seem to be infected with the motorcycle audio upgrade disorder)

BT told me the line converter they use is not enough to handle the nasty spike HD has programmed into the stock flash.

Do you just omit theirs and add the magic box

i have a 15 roadglide. I don't want to deal with the dealer flash nightmare, so was leaning toward the magic box. No my challenge is finding a mount for a amp other than J&M or biketronics (which sell mounts for their specific product only)

Well I can tell you from personal experience that the RF 300 is not enough power for the 7.1 BT Speakers. I had a RF amp, no flash and Kicker 6.75 CS speakers and it rocked, I ordered the BT 7.1 speakers with the brackets to get rid of the pods wanting more... The BT Speakers
combined with the RF 300x2 amp was horrible.
So I gave in and did the flash BT recommended and it did not help. I ordered the BT amp kit for the 14's and it was much better. After a little tweaking I must say it sounds really good now, maybe better with some songs.
Was it with it, no I should have left it alone. But now I have a lifetime warranty on the amp and speakers. And I mean changing out the RF / Kicker setup.
I'm not familiar with the RG setup, the bracket I have for the RF amp was made by a forum member and sold on eBay, it has a bolt pattern for the RF amp. The BT bracket bolts to the top of the radio also but has no holes for the amp, they use double sided tape on the bottom of the amp.

I have the kickers and pbr amp, gain set at 5. That's all I remember at the moment. This winter, I'm installing the metra kit with a Sony deck. Tired of playing with the HD HU.
