Here's where I'm at now: Flashed 6.5,4 speaker amp on my deck has never been updated, Diamond micro2 & Hertz ECX 165s! This set up sounds pretty good, but I wanted more! I bought a pioneer 8700 series w/Bluetooth & went with the Metra kit, TWICE, 1st time no thumb controls, 2nd time thumb controls worked battery constantly ran dead!
Side note: I've also got a Diamond micro4 installed, wired & bridged for when 8.8's become available!
Here's where I'm heading: I ordered American Bass 6.5 mids & Power accoustik NX-5 horns yesterday & after a nice conversation with Bill at Biketronics I ordered his retrofit kit for my Pioneer! I also ordered the BT wedge spacers just incase the A B 6.5s don't fit in my pods!
We'll see hopefully I'll be able to get everything installed this weekend!!! Except the 8.8s, they may be on hold due to winter setting in fast!!!
Sweet stuff! I'm curious about those AB's as well...there's some good mid range drivers from these small companies that don't cost much. Word of advice --- those tweeters will give out WAY before those drivers will. They don't require much power and will get harsh and your drivers will still want more. So either use the micro 4 for the drivers and tweeters on separate channels (guessing you wanted to bridge it to the 8's), or find a way to run a resistor that will attenuate the power going to the horns. Honestly they don't need much power to keep up.
Awesome stuff that Bill squared you away with you will need.
I was scared of over powering the horns! Haze what do you think of running them off my Pioneer & just let the micro2 take care of the 6.5s? My thoughts on the horns were pretty much they cost $55 so I'd give them a shot!
What was metra reason for the battery draining? I ran mine down play g with it not running and I think the amp did that.
Mine ran the battery down with the key off sitting! I've heard there was a problem that an update fixed, but after 2 tries I was done! I do know that there are people using the metra kit successfully, just not me!
Sadly, I am now having problems. I can't get the lcd screen to display anything other than version info and my battery is drained. I stupidly bought a refurbed sony deck and that might be the issue as well, so to eliminate I'm returning both. Not sure what I'll do next, but am leaning towards spending extra money towards the biketronics kit.

Sorry to hear that! I forgot my lcd never worked right either, it just displayed the version info also! I'll keep you posted on the BT kit!
Oh well, it's only money right? I wish I knew whether or not it was the radio or the metra kit or both. I don't want to not send the radio and find out it was the problem. Maybe I should.....just order the BT kit and still have time to return radio....if needed.
