Kenwood KDC-X998 and a ss pn4.1000d. will I lose the FM? I have searched and can't find anything. I have read that Sony HU's have good luck keeping it.

It's a crapshoot my man. Some guys do and some don't. I can tell you this. I've ran a couple Sony's and did not lose FM with that amp. But there are no guarantees!

Thanks for the answer I guess I will find out when my speakers show up. Kappas in the front and Kickers in the rear.

We have never gotten to the bottom of why some lose FM and some don't. We do know that a basic class D amp is a switching amplifier and it emits Electromagnetic interference into the air which causes us to lose Radio reception. But we have never understood why it affects some guys and not others. It's been an ongoing dilemma on the forum for quite sometime. I've ran the SS 1000D with my radio and didn't lose a thing. I've installed the same exact set-up on other bikes and those guys lost all or part of their reception. Just never been able to nail it down.
That's why I tell guys it's a crapshoot. Getting to your question I don't think it really matters stock vs. aftermarket. I've experienced the same thing with both units.

Thanks for all your help. If you are ever in Seattle I will buy you a cold one.
Come on up. I have a RV in the driveway all hooked up for guests. Highway 20 the ride over the north cascade highway is breath taking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diablo_Lake

Hey Gannicus, welcome anytime in the PNW. I'm 75 miles north of Seattle, first of the San Juan Islands. Free boat ride as well! Fishing trip in season!
