Anone have any experience with SunDown?
I stopped by a local dealer who just started carrying them and they look really well made.
The only down side I see to them is they seem to publish specs on the conservative side of things. They also are the only maker of a 2.75 inch speaker that can be used as an oem replacement in chryslers i think.
Dealer can also now get the new stinger harley battery which is a no leak dry cell and looks pretty nice.
Sundown is well known in the spl world. Not sure how their speakers would perform on a bike. Their mainly known for low end. Up to 7.5k amps and huge power capable subs. Not sure they even make an amp efficient for a Harley nor size to fit unless bag or tourpack. Id walk down a different path.
I was just curious the dealer had the 2.75, 5.25 and 6.5 coax in the shop along with several subs. He hadn't installed any yet but said he would let me demo some if I was interested. I might take him up on it
Yea, google them and see some of their offerings. Insane power handling subs. INSANE!!
Not so sure how their moto stuff will do though but honestly don't ever se them being a competitor in the bike audio industry unless it's competition ONLY, which means it's more show than go.
Typed a bunch but it didn't post. Damn. I have Sundown in my truck. Basically, they are not SPL speakers they're more of an SQ speaker. They do play fairly loud and I know dudes use them as SPL speakers, but that is only as a by-product of their incredibly well engineered motor structures that have good power handling, not necessarily because the speaker was designed as an SPL speaker. What really shines is their low distortion, and that is engineered into the speaker in a number of ways including a large Xmax, but also in the speaker materials, which for an accurate midrange means paper cones. Bottom line, I am a fan of the speaker and of the company (great customer service, the owner just plain loves speaker design), but I would not use their current offerings on a motorcycle.
