I've had the DD components for a couple moths now. D4 amp, Aw28 horns ad 6.5 in the fairing. I recently installed the DD DX6x9s in the saddlebag lids powered by the NVX MVPA4 amp. Last night I finally got it all hooked up and I love it. The 6x9s in the lids put out great sound and gave me the bass I was looking for. In my garage they are giving the fairing a run for their money. Now I just need to settle on a pair of speakers for the tour pak.
Observations from my garage. At lower volumes the lids over power the fairing. The fairing volume seems to come on around half volume. As the volume goes up the sound levels out.
Tuning with the DD1: I wouldn't. Upon using it to set the gains they were way too high for real life. Once I started playing music I had to turn the gains way down. It's a pretty simple machine to use, so I'm fairly certain I was using it correctly.

People need to understand all these tools are just that, they are designed to show the limits or stay within specifications.
The final sound will always be by ear and what sounds good to YOU.
I like the AD CX62s for the tour pak. I have the DD AW 6.5 w BT30 in the fairing and the CXs are a great compliment in the tour pak. Since you have 6x9s in the lids, I am far from the expert to say how the CXs will fair against them, but my ears tell me they should be fine. Those CXs can keep up with the DDs, no problems at all.
I completely agree with the CX's in the pods. I just posted a couple videos of Chris' bike that was just finished yesterday. He is running the AW's in the fairing with the AT28's, CX's in the lowers AND the TP pods, pioneer pros in the lids. I will say that I think the CX's are louder than the AW's. The AW's bring in the nice warmth and complete the sound, but I think in this set up the CX's are the louder of the sets. Now obviously this also depends on the amps pushing everything as well as how they are all wired. In this set up the lowers and TP pods are paralleled and the AW's are by them self on a BT4180, with the Pioneers off a JL bridged.
My point here is that I don't think there is anyway you could go wrong with the CX's in the TP pods, they will be able to hang with the AW's and 6x9's ALL DAY.
Look up the videos I just posted yesterday to hear how it all sounds, No extra tuning has been done yet in those videos
glad Peter jumped in to talk about the CXs and affirmed what I though as well but was thinking it was just me (the CXs being louder than the DD AWs). I am running them all from a BT4180 too.
I ordered a set of the DD DX6.5s for the tp. If they sound as good as their bigger brother the 6x9s, I'll be happy. I'll power those with the SS amp that's in the tp now.

Here is a pair of DX I just put in the pods, the grill covers for the aw worked great for them.
