So my setup is being installed right now. I'm running 4 sv 165 up front with diamond 800x4 amp then have sbd lids with sv 200.1 and st35 horns with diamond 800x2. I need to tune it. I've done 4 speakers but never done a setup where 1 speaker will be bass and 1 for highs. Also I forgot to send fix 86 so I'll install after o get it back. Will I have to retune or does it change anything? 15 street glide special
Uh, yes. The fix 86 will change EVERYTHING. It a digital sound processor so it essentially becomes the command center for the whole audio system. It really needs to be installed with the system BEFORE you get it back. If not you paid for an installation that will be mostly scrapped and rewired to incorporate the TWK.
Tuning this is not a simple posting advice thing buddy. If you've never done this before (the DSP) then get it installed and restart a thread (or this one) asking for help. We can try to get you in the ballpark. There's only a couple of us here that know these dsp's but we're always willing to help.
Also get on JLs website and download the TWK software. It has a simulation mode that you can play in (without the TWK hooked up to it) so you can at least get familiar with it. They also have some very good manuals on every single setting/tab/function/feature I'd suggest downloading it all and read through it.
It will help immensely in understanding what each function does
I've tuned before. Does the fix make a noticeable difference? They're having to install in bag. Initially we were putting it in fairing but no room. The cost went up installing in bag so I'm debating leaving it off.
If you're going to use the JL Fix86 (not the TWK right?) you need to have it in before tuning like said before. Shark or Batwing, i can't remember rigjt off hand. Shark will have plenty of room in the fairing and Batwing gets tricky. If you need help calibrating the Fix i can help, its fairly simple, but you need access to it to hit a button.
Sorry, didn't read well. The fix auto sets, the TWK doesn't. I'd still suggest getting the fix installed during the setup. If not yes you can do it. It has an auto tune mode only. It will get the sound coming from the OEM headunit flat so you can tune it with the amps/radio.
It a great unit.
Like Matt said, make the face of it accesable because the tune button is on the face of it.
