New HU...already did speakers and amp. Sony/KW/BT/VTURA???
I've read some threads and was hoping I could come to a conclusion by reading threads or adding to threads, but nothing fielded everything all together, so here goes.....
BT 7.1's in UF and BT 6.5's in LR as components so the tweets are actually in my UF. Being run by a RF Prime R400-4D. (yes, it was VERY hard to squeeze in but I LOVE it!)
I know need a HU. Tired of being afraid to turn the volume up for fear of distortion killing what I've done so far.
BT's BT1005X module only seems a no brainer and I already knew that from when I did the speakers/amp. (A confirmation wouldn't hurt)
Am I hearing correctly that V-Twin Audio is the way to go on the installation kit? Best appearance and easy install?
lexan plate is paintable I assume when I get around to painting my inner fairing?
Since I've been in HDF for almost 9 years is it possibile I know either one of the guys involved in V-Twin Audio?
So on to the HU itself...
As a kid doing big stereo's in cars I was a Kenwood fanboy. So having said that I am leaning towards Kenwood, but it's more important to get the best HU for my Harley.
So I'm looking at
---X998
---MMR-D765BT
---Sony MEX-M100BT
---Alpine CDE-HD149BT
I do get caught in the rain once in a while so that is a concern.
I do wash her from time to time and wonder if ya'll use precaution when washing with an aftermarket HU.
Can I park her in the rain without bringing a fairing cover with me?
Seeing displays on a sunny day?
Anything else I should be looking at or thinking about?

Like V-TwinAudio's VTWCE for $86? Thing looks ugly and is expensive but I guess I could put it on when I'm stuck in the rain or washing the bike.
What are the splash covers? Who makes them?

OK, thanks.
Does anyone have preferences on the covers?
Scoshe and Metra have lots of complaints on Amazon.
Biketronics I'd have to buy the Biktronics installation kit for it to work they say.
The 3 are about the same price, while the V-TGwin one is $65 more?
Can't possibly be that much better can it?
Is there another option beyond these 4?

The Biketronics BT68 will work will the Metra install kit. I have no experience with the Scosche.

One guy said all the HU's I listed are good.
Nobody has comments about what makes one better than another?
Why one of them would be a bad choice?
If one would be good if you never get caught in the rain and one would be better if you might?
Nothing about V-Twin Audio's reputation?
Are they worth the prices they charge?
People use these rain covers only when washing and getting caught in the rain? All the time? Help with seeing display or not?
How interchangable are they with different brands of install kits and HU's?
