Amp Settings
I ordered the following parts:
Soundstream PN4 520D
Speaker Adaptors
Kappa 62.11i
wire and fused link etc.
I will be putting them on a 2009 Street Glide.
I plan to set the gain by ear and check it with a multimeter. (for fun)
I downloaded a Tone 1khz -5db. Is this correct?
If not give me a link.
All levels will set to natural. Volume 3/4.
The amp is 520 watts and I will only be using the front channels.
So the formula is half of 520 = 260 x 2 ohms =520 divided by the square root =22.803608.
Multimeter 23. Is this correct?
Does the amp recognize the ohms in the speakers?
If so when I get some extra cash and do the lids and if I put 4 ohms in the lids will it care?
What else?
Thanks Larry

you might want to check the sticky topic about setting gains
never run a test tone thru your speakers
never give kappas 260 watts
set volume on your head unit to 3/4 volume
flat treble and base
if your amp has selector, set to high pass at approx 80 hz
with your speakers connected, play a "musical" song of your liking and very slowly turn the gain adjuster up til its loud and clear ( no distortion)
150watts should do

Are you bridging the amp? I'm not certain, but that may be too much juice for the Kappas, but don't quote me on that. Granted you could bridge it if you like but may have to turn gains down to achieve a lower wattage for the Kappas based on their rms specs x 1.25 to 1.5 or so.
Other folks may be more familiar with a recommended wattage for them.
The amp is 100x4 at 4 ohms. So if only using front channels, you're going to set gains to that 100 watt point. Use the calculator in the link. Input your ohms and desired wattage and it'll give you voltage.
Also take a look at the sticky on the forum about setting gains. It's very helpful as well

The Kappas are 2ohm so you can't bridge them!!!!! That amp puts out 130watts PER channel. Set it by ear. Your ears will tell you when it's right far better than a meter.

Thanks guys.
I'll check out the links.
Definitely not going to bridge, above my pay grade.
I also know bad things can happen.
Tried to find the sticky, bad computer skills.
About mixing ohms.
Is that a bad thing?

SBates is right, the Kappas are 2 ohms. Definitely don't bridge. RMS on the Kappas is 75, so 1.5x that is about 112. Guys may be running more power to them , I'm not sure, but setting by ear is probably your best bet. If you are dead set on using the meter, use the link for ohms law and the link in this post and you'll be on your way. Just be sure to enter in 2 ohms for your resistance, otherwise trouble could be on the horizon.
As as far as mixing ohms, I'm not sure what you mean.

Yes you can mix the ohms on the amp. 2ohm on front channels and 4ohm on the rear are perfectly fine. May want to consider a different amp if your planning to run 4ohm 6x9's with it.

Today a finally got around to installing the Soundstream PN4 520D and the Kappa 62.11i speakers.
I won't bore you with insignificant details.
Used a multimeter and UltraNutZ sticky.
Used the target voltage in the slyedog sticky. (with tone)
The voltage on the left speaker was around 4 points higher than the right.
Example Left 15,500 right 11,500.
Hooked the speaker up to see if I would here a difference.
My ears could not. Tried low to high volumes, could not tell.
There is no fader so that’s not the problem.
Set the gains by ear and put it back to together.
Will pull the faring off in a couple of week when the amp breaks in and look at the voltages.
