Piecing together a low budget upgrade to my 2002 Electra Glide Standard.
Here's what I have:
-Jensen HD1BT
-Soundstream PN4.520D
-Rockford Fosgate P1650 Punch 6.5" speakers
Before draining and removing my tank I decided to wire everything up and make sure it all works OK. I'm getting a TERRIBLE buzzing whenever the head unit is turned on. It's there when listening to FM and Bluetooth. Ground wire is connected right to the battery. I don't have any decent short RCA cables, so just to check it out I am using CHEAP rca cables that probably came from a home theater system.

Changed out the rca cables today. It has no effect on the buzzing. What is the next step? I've detached and reattached all wiring. I've plugged the old speakers in. I've checked the front and rear outputs from the stereo. The only time the buzzing goes away is when I'm switched to accessory instead of ignition.

try running a light guage ground wire from a screw in back of your HU to a good ground source, i ran mine into the ground lug of the amp
Okay - So where is your remote wire to your amp connected? Needs to be connected to an accessory source. Check and make sure your speaker wires or RCA's are not running parallel to your power wire to the battery. Check those three things and report back.

My remote wire is connected to the power amp wire coming out of the back of the stereo.
I don't think parallel wires is my problem either. I've tried moving the amp around and moving the wires around and it doesn't seem to help.
My only other idea is to try to speaker level inputs...
