I've been researching like crazy for the past 2 weeks on the "best" setups. I've come down to the conclusion is more or less what you like. I have a '17 RGS and I'm looking into 2 6.5" in the fairing and 2 6x9 in the lids.
HERTZ MPK 1650.3 vs DD Aw 6.5(with appropriate tweeter)
HERTZ 6x9 vs VO 6x9. I haven't heard many recommendations on the hertz 6x9 but I've seen alot on the VO. I'm more or less hunting for the 6x9s to pound out bass (loosing this term very loose as I understand the conflicts of space on a bike for this to happen.
My real main question here is with the amp setup. I was planning on purchasing the ARC 600.4 but I'm beginning to realize that alone isn't good enough and I should look into a 2 amp setup or am I wrong in that aspect?
Are u committed to only 4 speakers or will u ever be adding lowers, to or inside the bag Speakers.
This will drive ur initial amp plan of attack.
U cannot go wrong with the AWs. The Hertz 1650s are awesome but man are they a bit expensive. I had the 165.3 and they were awesome sound quality but not as loud as the AWs. Have not tried the 1650 though.
I'm only interested in the 4 speakers. I really don't plan on getting a tour pack any time soon. I also use my bags so a sub is pretty much a no go at this time. The volume issue is something I want to avoid that's what my concern was with approaching the amp aspect. Also looking into pvr and mmats for the 6.5 but the DVD AWs seemed like an overwhelming advantage.
The hertz are very pricey but I've been able to find decent deals online that include the crossovers and tweets, also have DA Performance down the street from me (local retailer)
If u want to roll with great power I would possibly consider getting the pod eliminator brackets from Biketronics, then roll in on 2 micro amps bridged.
The AWs will do damn good powered off the JL 400 or 500!!!!!
Too bad u could not get two Ground Zero Micro 4s tat push 250 each bridged. Just not avail right now.
Lots of options will develop as u begin to nail down your selections. I think the pod eliminator is a must.
I'm sorry but what are the pod eliminators? Mounting brackets? Thank you for the suggestions I'll look into going with the dual amp setup. The micros are that good? Haha

Before you jump into any purchases if you want to hear the MMATS / DD VO6X9 combo let me know and we can hook up to let you have a listen as I am on the South side of Chicago also.

Apparently I can't send a pm? Anyways. I'm available after 430 to meet up anywhere. I was going to try and run up to DA Performance and see what they have available as well. Ever been there yet?
