Installed the full boat Biketronics Pro Speakers, Amp, adapters and replaced stock 4.3 Infotainment with a Kenwood on a 2014 FLHTCU a couple of years ago. Everything copacetic until just recently the Kenwood starting turning off at exactly the same duration of the ride, usually after about 10 minutes. I can power it back on and everything seems to work OK going forward. And then last week the fuel gauge indicated the tank was empty, then reset to show 1/2 full and finally registered the actual quantity. I'm assuming that I have something loose, pinched, abraided, shorted, etc. (perhaps incorrect assumption). I've got the front cap back off and have started tracing wires and unplugging but I feel like I'm blundering around without a clear idea of what I'm looking for. I was already thinking about a trade and now am considering removing all the goodies and putting the stock system back in place - hoping I could kill two birds, etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

If you shut the bike off and then turn it right back on, does the stereo start playing again?

Typically does. I cycled it on/off numerous times last evening and the radio came on each time - but I didn't leave it on for any duration. Meanwhile on a full tank the fuel gauge would show empty or jump to 1/2 tank - occassionally would register actual quantity.

Hmmm, did the fuel gauge do that BEFORE you put the amp in? Check your grounding wire(s) and make sure all of the connections are solid.

No problems for a couple of years post-installation. All of this stuff just started over the past few months. It just seems like eveything is electrical and since I did the installation of all of the upgrades I figure Occam's razor - always look for the simplest explanation...
