Could use some help, just installed a new 4 speaker system on my 08 Streetglide. The system plays Great,,,, but during initial power up or during shutdown I get a loud electrical pop or surge in the right side saddlebag 6x9 speaker. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Lots of real sharp guys here to set you on the right track, but I'll give you my experience...
I had the same issue a couple of years ago with a system I put in. Don't even remember what the components were now, but it did what you're experiencing. The problem was the order in which the components turn on/off. I seem to recall buying an off the shelf "delay box" that when wired into the system solved the problem.
Someone will be by shortly that actually knows something

What amp-speakers-head unit? How was the amp wired to speakers-battery-ground? What are you using for your amp 12v switched?
Tesnevo, The amp is a BT4180, speakers DB EPC-6, H/U Sony Mex-70bt, BT interface controller, Hertz690's in the saddlebags. Amp wired back to the battery, ground to triple tree.
ground the amp to the battery or the ground lug on the frame unless BT said otherwise.
where is your amp power on wired to, the head unit or another 12volt key on/off source?
m
Run your amp ground to the negative of the battery. If that doesn’t fix the issue then you’ve got an issue with that channel/side. You will have to isolate it to either the amp or headunit.
I had that problem when I added a new amp (can't remember if it was SS 520 or Arc mini). I had amp remote turn on wire connected to the orange wire (near headlight harness I think per directions) I switched it to remote turn on from HU...problem solved!Where is your remote turn on wire for your amp wired to?
