Default Windshield makes a difference

I have a LRS windshield that I cut down from 10 inch to 8 to fit me better. A friend just got a Klock Werks 8.5 Flare. I asked him if I could try it to see if I liked it.

WOW what a difference. The wind hits me differently and something I will get used to but I could not believe how much better I could hear my system. Really woke it up!

I got home and watched some videos and read some forum posts on it and it does what KW says it does. It really creates some clean air between the fairing and my ears.

Found it online for $140.00 bought it and should be here by next week!

Thanks for the heads up cfave. I'm 6'2 and use a stock style 12" shield with good results. I also cut down on some wind noise with the baffle that Harley sells that goes under the bottom triple tree.

I see that Klock Werks makes an 11" version of the Flare but it doesn't seem to have the flip at the top like the shorter ones do. I don't know if that would work any better than my standard 12" shield or not.

My friend is 6'2" and he started with a 6.5 and that hit him in the forehead. Got the 8.5 and loves it. I am 5'10" but sit up straight (broke my back years ago so causes me to sit straight) so we have the same line of sight. It was nice to try it before I bought it.

KW does ride before you buy at the shows they are at. I would hit them up and see where they might be around your area and go give it a whirl. At 180 bucks, for a piece of plastic, it is best you make an informed decision.

I have a LRS 9" mega curve and like it as no wind hits my face. Windshield DO make a big difference.

I'm 6'4 and run a LRS 8" Ultra Elite and I have no issues with wind noise or hearing my tunes at any speed.

Keep in mind that KW are measured from the center bolt to the curve so they are at least an inch taller. I love my KW 8.5.

Just nosing around on Long Ride Shields' website I noticed they are having a pretty groovy sale going on right now.

That's almost a weekly occurrence. Absolutely love their shields.

yeah, when i did my stereo install (since it was all apart), i swapped the stock shield for a 12" KW. probably cheated the wow factor from the new tunes, but it all goes together and ended up awesome.
