Hey Everyone....
I'm considering replacing my AT28 tweeters with some horns (VOB3's or whatever is recommended). If I do this the horns will go in the factory mirror location. I don't think the amps I have will work so I need your advice there please. I've searched a lot over the weekend and see some using the B3's in parallel with their 6.5's but many other posts saying paralleling horns like that will melt your face off.

JL 400/4v2 currently bridged to DD AW6.5 and AT28 in the fairing
JL 280/4 currently bridged to DD VO6x9 in the bag lids
Both of my amps are in the fairing and I'm not really wanting to add a 3rd amp somewhere just for the horns. Do I have any options with what I have to add horns or have I purchased myself into a no-horn corner?
Are you using the BT speaker brackets? If so you may be able to grill mount horns.
For a amp choice you could swap out the 400/4 to a 600/6 and that would give you 2 channels for horns.
I do have the BT brackets and the JL280/4 on the clutch side bracket. I'll keep the 600/6 option in the mix, see I'll need to get an amp tray for that one too.
Unfortunately It would be difficult to run horns with your current equipment. They really need to have their own channels to level match them with the rest of the system.
Can I ask what you are trying to gain? I assume more highs but it's worth asking to be sure.
Thanks for all the replies, just looking for better highs than what I have by moving to horns. Seems like they get a lot of praise here. I didn't realize we could mount them in the hogtunes grills so that's some good news for me.
Still thinking about it so who knows where I'll end up. I can probably return the JL 400/4 and save up for the JL 600/6 + amp tray or maybe get a Focal FDP Sport and a micro amp.
PRV has a new horn out for a good price. I haven't tried it yet, but read it's nice. I'm running the Beyma AST-50 and really like them. They are kind of pricey, but the best tweeter I've ever heard.

Thanks again all, I was able to send the JL 400/4 amp back. I'll be on the lookout for something else to get when the refund is processed in a few days.
Regarding micro amps, what brand/models are recommended for a horn only amp? Although I may just try to get a Focal FDP to run my 6.5's and the 6x9's then use 2 channels of my existing JL 280/4 for some horns. That would also leave me 2 open channels if I wanted to put horns in the back later on.
Ended up with Focal FDP running the AW 6.5s and the VO 6x9's. Using 2 channels of my JL 280/4 on some VOB3 Horns (mounted in the Hogtunes grills) and OMG I am loving this setup. I mounted them all the way against the base of the B3 so the threads stick out the max. I need to back them off maybe when I open the fairing again and can check the spacing. Being the only thing on the 280/4 I still ended up fading away from it a little to help keep the horns in check.
