Default Competition Question

For this of you guys that participate in competitions, how are woofer/horns or component systems viewed? Counted as 2 speakers or 4?

Typically, a speaker with a built in horn (Beyma 8cx300) is considered as one speaker. Externally mounted compression drivers count as they're own speaker. Small compression tweeters (B3, St25) are not counted.

So my small mmats ds35t would not count? We are working with a local HD dealer to put on a bike show and sound competition, but I've never been to one. I just see the filters others post.

You're about to open a can of worms that you cannot close. Yeah the competitions seem all innocent and fun until you participate.

It's a fundraiser for our charity, so I'm more hoping to raise some money. I may or may not compete.

***This class is for professionals and shop builders***

***UNLIMITED***

Competitors that choose to can move up a class but must remain in the class for that event..

A "Average Joe" may enter a bike in Stock, Modified or Outlaw class and if so chooses may also have the Shop builder of the bike enter the same bike into the Pro Class. At that time the builder can compete with the bike to Showcase their work. (Doing so after registering in that class).

Horns will not be counted. Example of horns allowed (ST25, ST35, DTX35,DDB3,SQL60)

Compression drivers will be counted if they are mounted separate from a driver.
Coaxial speakers with compression drivers mounted to them will be counted as one speaker.

Any modifications to lids or bags or tour pack that alter the outside dimensions from mfg. specs. will only be allowed in Unlimited Class.

Head to Head (call outs) will be done in the first rounds of competition only.
IE If two people have been challenging each other and "Talking Trash" they may meet up in the octagon and have that call out settled by judges during the first round of competition.

We reserve the right to inspect any bike discreetly for class compliance at our discretion any time prior to or after the competitor has competed during the event if necessary.

If anyone is caught cheating they will be disqualified from the show and be subject to inspection at next event. Sound Warz decisions on this will be final.

If at any point a bikes audio becomes interrupted it is a AUTOMATIC disqualification for that round.

The vehicle must start and pull out of the "Octagon" area or be disqualified.

If you experience technical difficulties and can not begin within 90 sec. you will be asked to leave the "Octagon" and be moved to the end of your class. Hopefully this will give you the time needed to correct your issues and still compete.

Stock,Modified, and Outlaw will have a Pro class and a "Average Joe" class.
No Shop or Professional will compete in the Street Beater class.

PRO CLASS is anyone that installs and or designs or tunes audio systems for anyone other than themselves, regardless if they have a brick and mortar store front or not. Or if you accept a invite to the PRO CLASS

Contestants will each have a 1 min. round in the preliminary rounds alternating between each other to "Let It Eat". If there is enough time a second round may be implemented.

---JUDGING & POINTS---

Judging will be comprised of at least 2 unbiased judges. A point system will be used to include 1 thru 5 point for each of the following categories.
Overall Sound 1 to 5
High's 1 to 5
Mid's 1 to 5
Bass 1 to 5
Max score is 20 points x 2 Judges=40 points max.

The 1st. and 2nd. place winners of each class will be awarded the following points to go toward your yearly totals for Grand Champion of each class.
1st Place 25
2nd Place 15

Every competitor that registers and competes will receive 5 points for attending that event. These points will go toward your yearly totals for Grand Champion of each class.

Some events will be double point events. These will be announced well in advance of the event. To allow competitors ample time to plan on attending those events.

At the year end event The competitor with the most total points from each class will be that years Grand Champion for that class.
And those winners will be invited to participate in the class above them for the following year.

Entry fee will be $30.00 per bike. All competitors will receive a lanyard competitor pass. To be worn while in the Octagon.

ONLY competitors, judges and Sound Warz staff will be allowed in the octagon during competition.

---KING OF THE METER---

The microphone will be placed at a height of 30" from the seat centered left to right. As this is the avg. height of a riders ears while seated on the bike.

Peak SPL will be measured using a Termlab and a AKG P170 mic. This system will be calibrated using a N.I.S.T. certified device.

If u haven't been to 1, 2, 3 or 10 competitions you prob should tap the brakes before trying to host your own sound competition.

If ur doing a unique local HD & local business sound competition, prob even more important to get a bit more exposure to how these are run and what the expected audience is going to be or u might create some chaos for the hosts.

I know I'm way out of my league. I have reached out to a few local shops, including Lucky 7, to act as title sponsors and hopefully help with the logistics of a competition. The dealership says they have done several sound competitions, but I want to make this one as successful as possible, and you guys are right, I cant do it on my own.

Fyi...if any of you veterans want to volunteer to help, we would love it, and be happy to supply a donation letter for the time you spent helping the charity.
