2004 Ultra
OK, fellas, I have a 2004 Ultra that I would like new speakers for the fairing as I have taken the Tour Pak off in an attempt to build a PWBISG. (Poor white boy's imitation Street Glide) I have been looking for speakers but all I see are 2 and 4 ohm. On the sticker on my stock speakers, right next to where it says Made in China, it says 8 ohm. Or is there a reasonably priced complete package? Not a cheap *** but I didn't spend a lot on this bike and not sure how long I'll have it.
i have been down your exact rabbit hole. my advise to you would be to get an amp and a set of the Mmatts Pa 601.4cx's and install them. the Mmats MD4110 amps pairs up very well and will mount on top of the stock radio. to make it sound significatly better than that you will have to give up the stock radio, which includes the cb, if you are willing to go there, a LOT can be done. how far do you want to go?

1) Should I stay with 8 ohm speakers?
2) Do those speakers fit the fairing's openings?
3) Are there installation kits for my bike or is the wiring on me?
The MMats do sound good but I would go with a Stinger spx700x4 amp and keep your FM radio. There are few threads on here about the Mmats 4110 killing FM. yes there are install kits but you will have to run speaker wire and power and ground and a remote turn on wire for the amp.
the stinger amp is also a good unit, but i have installed several Mmats amps and NOT had any radio issues. you'll need the metra 6.75 speaker adapters, to run your own wiring, both for power, to amp and to speakers and if you keep the stock radio i would suggest some sort of LOC-line output converter. if you get a new quality head unit, the sound quality goes up and the need for a line output converter goes away, but you'll need the radio instal kit with the handlebar module, well worth it if you don't use the cb/weather part of the stock head unit.
just for the record, i own a 04 FLHTCUI, so i am speaking from my own experience, if you like you can go way back to when i first joined up here and search out all the things i asked.

ps, you are going to want to go with the 4ohm speakers

Just uprgraded my 03 FLHTC with the help of members on here and marco. Went with Pioneer hu, Mmats 601pa in lowers, 601cx in fairing, pushed with mmats md4110 amp. Could not have a better system. Really clear vocals, great mids and highs with some good thump, with volume to spare. Really good system.
